A tranny cooler is always a good thing when towing.
FWIW, I pull a 3000# boat, plus carry all my gear and 3 friends and havent had an issue.

Did your truck already come with the Tow Package on it. Doesn't it already have an oil cooler on it?

What is "once in a while" and what is "something" If you tow a 5x8 yard trailer once a year or twice a year for 20 miles...I wouldn't worry about it. If you tow a 5x8 yard trailer once a month...Prolly worth it.

It'll cost you a bit of money and either some work or some more money for install...Will with work out with how much you tow??

If you tow over 3500lbs on a reg basis you probably need the cooler, check the manual. 3500lbs is alot of weight, way more than a 500lb 5x8 yard trailer, that at max probably has a 1500lb axle and should be no prob. i'd tow that with my 4 cylinder camry all day.

This I know...I was asking the OP what he intended to tow...You can tow as much as you want with or without the towing equipment...but the cost-benefit analysis is the important part.

If I towed a 3500# trailer once a year for 25 miles...I wouldn't worry about the tow package upgrades...Same trailer once a month, or 250 miles...I probably would.

Your truck with a trany cooler can tow up to 6500lb and as it sits now 5000lb. If you are close to the 5000lb mark for a long stretch of time I would get the cooler. If you are just towing small stuff I would wait (you can always add it later if you need to tow big stuff)

Yeah...Forgo the cooler unless you've got stacks of money sitting around. You'll be fine with that.

Welcome to the board- see ya around!!
