Towing is a fine art. Everyone wants a 1 ton turbo diesel to move their lawn mower. With the taco, If you stay around 4000# with brakes, everything is fine. No you can't do 75mph and pass, but you can easily go 55 and get there eventually. I tow a 3850# Lund tyee 20' boat with surge brakes. Ohio is flat lands, so severe inclines rarely come in to the equation. Don't crawl up Peoples ass, and leave some extra time to get there. I had a duramax 2500hd. Loved it for towing (in between trips to the dealer) and dumped it. The tundra was sweet with a 5.7, but they are 14mpg every day driving. My taco isn't the "best" at anything, (other than mall crawling), but it is sufficient and capable for 98% of my needs. The remaining 2% I borrow or rent what I need.

Rent a dolly and fuck u-haul, they aren't the only place to rent. U-haul really pissed me off once and I will never deal with those complete a-hole idiots ever again. Budget and Penske both rent car dollys. I actually think some Home Depots rent them as well.

True, people own a damn 1 ton diesel for their 5000lb camper they haul once a year. I pull more weight more often with my taco than most people with their full sizers. Coming from pulling all my stuff with a ranger, i am in heaven with my taco

I tow my Porsche racecar and trailer(total weight 3400lbs) all day long with my 6spd Tacoma and tow package. My trailer has e-brakes and I have the controller. As has been said before, take it slow, give yourself extra space and you will be fine.

As far as U haul is concerned, their car trailers are crazy heavy and usually in pretty rough shape, at least the ones I have seen. If it were me, I'd see if you can rent from another vendor if that's an option.

Best of luck and be safe.

    Cheers, James

I pull a camper also but there is no way I would feel safe or comfortable with a camper or any thing else that weighted more than the truck.
