you need to call and check with the store. if they say you can tow it, and get names of whoever you talk to.

my company needed to rent a 36" trencher. 3200 pounds, well within the tow capacity of the tacoma. didn't even consider they wouldn't let me rent it.
    this trencher:

got there, and the first thing the guy says is "that's a midsize, you need a full size truck, i can't rent to you." i started showing him the specs, but he wasn't having any of it.

so panic called a few people, got a ford f150 for a few days and made do, but cost me 2 hours on an already tight schedule, and now i'm driving someone else's truck. it's like wearing borrowed pants...

when i got back, a different guy checked the equipment back in, and i started asking him for documentation of what can tow what, and where it's listed because what the first guy told me wasn't documented anywhere within the rental area, online, or in the rental agreement.

he laughs, says he knew exactly who told me that, and that guy is getting ready to retire so he just doesn't do what he's supposed to anymore, just says everything needs a bigger truck...

he told me as long as it's within the tow ratings of the truck, it can be towed.

so now i'm just bitter i had to drive an f150 for 2 days and didn't get to tow something with my own truck.
