Loaded i'm @ 5500#, I don't have the luxury or finances to afford 2 trucks, especially a Chevy 3500, I think that goes for most of us on this site. The Taco does great as long as it is set up properly for towing the rated GVW of the truck, I wouldn't max it out but I won't hesitate to tow a lot of weight for a long distance. The truck CAN handle it.

I know the truck can handle it but seems like he plans on towing it a couple times a year at least. If you look at the weight of the specs on that trailer by the time he's loaded up without adding anything off factory lot except adding propane and water he's at 6k already plus all your camping needs. Chairs, pots, pans, food, drink, coolers , grill, fire wood, drugs, alcohol, strippers, astronauts, Crack that kinda stuff

No one said it couldn't be done...it just isn't ideal. I can physically mow my 2 acre yard with a push mower, but that doesn't make it the right tool for the job.

Is it possible to tow that with a 3rd gen? Yes. Will it be fun? No. If I were in your shoes I would buy a tundra or an f-150.

Like I've always said, and my advise to all. If you set your rig up properly you can tow anything comfortably, as log as you don't go over the trucks GVWR.

Why won't it be fun? It's well within Toyota's famously conservative towing ratings.

I've towed my wakeboard boat that weighs 4500lbs and the truck does ok on flat ground but any hills at all and I'm lucky to go 50 without completely smashing the gas pedal to the floor. Like I said it's possible but not nearly as safe as a half ton.
