Make sure you cross the chains on the trailer, it the hitch fails it'll catch and trailer wont pass you by. Also 4 point tie down on the car on the trailer.with a good tie down you could roll it and car and trailer stay as a unit.

    It's happening!

Practiced driving around the block with my E320 hooked up. Picking up the Civic in a little bit.

I made it home! First of all I gotta give the truck props - it handled so much better than I was expecting. Maintained 50-60 no problem, 45 on a moderate grade. The Tundra brakes on the truck and the surge brakes on the trailer combined made braking no issue for me.

Towing for the first time wasn't as bad as expected. The 4 cylinders can definitely tow!

Just to have a spare car, the Benz is on its way out so it's nice to have a backup. I got the car for free.

What's up with the Benz? My mom had one of those back in the day, i don't remember much if it but it was on of the more solid vehicles we've had.

It's actually a really solid vehicle, it has 290k on the odometer. As you can expect it's a German car so it comes with all the German car problems. Expensive repairs, hard to find parts, etc etc. The rear main seal is leaking so it eats through about a quart of oil per month, and the flexplate had to be replaced not too long ago. There's also the weirdest electrical issue, the headlights/tailights keep burning out every couple months. I suspect it's a grounding issue but it's cheaper/easier to just keep replacing the bulbs.

It has it's scratches and dings and the trunk button doesn't work and we (maybe) spilled soup on the center transmission shifter and buttons a couple years ago but overall it's been a good car. Repairs are just getting too expensive and it's much too complex for me to work on compared to the Tacoma so we're just waiting it out. Whole reason why I picked up the Civic is to have a backup car once the Benz dies. We pre-ordered a Model 3, but with the issues the battery production is having I hope it'll last till 2018/2019.

That being said it drives really nicely. The build quality is much better than newer benzes.

Been a long time since I drove a Benz, last one was an E63. Cool car, engine was hand built and signed by its assembler/designer. Thing went way too fast for my judgement though haha. Also who eats soup in the car, a burger maybe, tacos... for sure (even while driving stick), but soup?

Hopefully it's easy to get a new battery for your new Civic. My buddy and I want to build a car for amateur dirt track racing and we can't agree on what to build. I said lets just drop our ideas and get a Civic, that idea was not accepted either (honestly probably a good thing).

There's a poor abandoned S600 sitting in my neighbor's driveway rotting away last registered in 2010. Asked the lady who lived there if she'd sell it, no dice. Husband is some aspiring rapper in Los Angeles and that's his vacation house.

I honestly don't remember how the soup even got there, I think someone was too lazy to hold it and tried to fit the to-go container in the cup holder. Didn't work out well as you can imagine.

There's a same year/model/trim Civic in the local p&p. Hopefully the Hybrid battery is still good, otherwise RockAuto sells reman batteries for $1,400.

You should really read through this thread. Someone's Prius battery went out and Toyota wanted $6k to replace it, all he did was clean the corossion off the battery terminals for a whopping $6 in materials and his car was good as new. I'm HOPING it's that simple.

Legit question on the P&P battery, if it is still there how would you get it? My local parts yard lets us use gantries with a block and tackle but I understand that's not too common. Plus don't they usually come out the bottom.

The Civic battery is actually under the backseat. Super easy to take out other than the sheer weight. They have tons of those overhead gantries I could probably use those with the help of some cut up seatbelts, which is what everyone else uses.

I seriously doubt the battery is still in it, but I can hope. Otherwise I'll try restoring the existing battery.
