I need to haul a trailer carrying a 12000 lbs load for 1 mile on flat back road. I know I should rent a larger truck which I do for longer hauls…but this is twice a year. Take boat out of water and store. What is the realistic and experienced danger to the truck? I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road

So then why don't you? How much money do you have invested in the TRD OR? How much money do you have invested in the boat and trailer? And you're willing to risk all that money for what.... 19.99 / hour for a Home Depot F250 rental?

I'm not wasting my time with such an absurd post. If you cannot understand that you are a danger to yourself and (more importantly) others towing this large of a load with a vehicle that is not rated for it, nothing I post here will make a difference.

    All of them.
I say just send it. Report back twice a year and let us know how it works out. Mostly likely you'll be 100% fine. But if something does break it's going to be a glorious break.

They don't put the load ratings on the vehicle as a starting point. Rent a bigger truck or have someone with a bigger truck do it for you.

Is it really worth risking your life, or someone else's?

so.....are you pulling the boat out on a boat ramp and putting it back in on a ramp? Please have someone video your event..

You are grossly overloading your hitch and truck. So, not a very good idea.

The op posted 1 time and hasn’t been back. I think this is just a bullshit post. But in case the dude is serious (lol) here’s my take on it. My rule of thumb when towing heavy with a Taco is not to exceed 20,000lbs and not to exceed 6000lbs hitch weight. I pay no mind to GVWR, it’s just a number. In fact they are all just numbers. A couple other things I do is I don’t exceed 80 mph (at least I try not to) and leave at least 200 car lengths distance between you and the vehicle in front of you stopping distance. Other than those cautions let er rip. Toyotas are built tough, can’t imagine there will be any problems.

Someone with this logic may not get sarcasm. Well and good until you find yourself driving behind or next to him.

Ya I wouldn't trust the taco on a boat ramp with 12k. probably do the drive ok it you keep it to like 10 mph but the ramp will be trouble in a big way.

I have trouble believing the OP is anything but a troll. And perhaps he did not get the gratifying reaction he was hoping for.
