When towing with a 2017 Taco with the 4 cylinder, what gear do I use? Should I use the ECT feature? Is there a good aftermarket transmission cooler on the market, or should I have a dealer install one?

You can install a Toyota cooler from the V6 motors but my experience towing with my 2.7L was that it didn't offer enough cooling. Go with one large aftermarket cooler. You must have a way to monitor the trans temp. I used the torque app with a bluetooth dongle, worked great. My tow weight was around 3,500 and most of the time I was in third gear (4speed trans). Yuu will find your six speed trans mostly in 4th with occasionally being able to use 5th but depends on the weight you are towing. The 4 cylinder Tacoma's are rated at 3,5k.
