I just bought my premium offroad 6’ bed for 53000 . Port add ons can up the price significantly. I said i was not interested in a truck with any add ons. Mine had mud flaps and floor mats and thats it. I also got 1k off retail and a7 year toyota warranty for 1200

IMG_1063.jpg So I currently have 4000 miles on my SR5 4x4 and a little over half those miles are towing my 2974 lb travel trailer. I came from my 2013 Tacoma Sport 4x4. The towing between the 2 trucks is literally like night and day for me. I make a yearly trip to San Diego from Portland so I have experienced several passes at different grades and all throughout my trip. This truck makes towing a breeze, almost like it wasn’t even there. Plenty of power for passing is needed, however I tend to tow around 60 MPH so not passing many at that speed. I do not use a weight distribution hitch as my trailer doesn’t justify it so I swapped the rear bumpstops to the timben. Took the little bit of sag completely away. The stability towing is amazing and I was able to use the cruise control most of the trip, something I couldn’t do with my 13 Tacoma. I find the seats much more comfortable in my new truck for a long distance drive. I didn’t get the leg cramping that made me get the seat jackers for my old truck. I really had no intention of buying a new truck but when I went to my local dealer to get service there sat my new truck, parked in from of me daring me to test drive it and that was all it took. My new truck came with the towing package, built in brake controller and all. It has heated seats, steering wheel and mirrors with the power rear window. It came with what I was told was an all Toyota 3” lift and 18” wheels and tires, BF Goodrich KO2’s. The lift I was told has a lifetime warranty on it because it was all Toyota parts and is listed on my warranty as covered. Anyways back to the towing, like I said night and day difference and I never looked back. I really loved my 13 Tacoma and had done a lot to it but never hesitated to buy the new truck after driving it. After taking my trip I am pleasantly pleased with my new truck. Just wanted to share my experience and share a pic of my truck and trailer.

I moved my son from Florida to Denver, CO over 1500 miles pulling this uhaul over loaded and full of tools. I was so impressed with the pulling power climbing the mountains and maintaining highway speeds with ease.

Nobody has to pay that much unless they just want to. I've priced some 4th gen Tacoma's and Ford Rangers both with the 4 cyl turbo engine. I can get one the way I want it for under $45K. And while that sounds like a lot when you factor in 2024 median wages compared to 2005 median wages most people will have to work about the same number of hours to buy a 2024 today as they did a 2005 when it was new.

That's median wages. If your income hasn't increased at the same rate as the average household then you're losing ground.

I get it though. It's hard to focus on real vs nominal dollars. I do it every day I'm at the store. Someone told me they paid $88 for an oil change recently and I about shit. Someone else said, "That's the price they cost, boomer." I still remember how an oil change was $35 at a quick change place, not 80+

I pay about $95 every other time for the wife's car....but I do that for a reason.....its a KIA. The other times I do it myself for about $35 with buying filters from the dealer. People just don't understand....shit is expensive now days compared to 10-15 years ago. At the end of the day though the GM twins, Ranger, and Tacoma are all with in $1k or so of each other when equipped comparatively.

Nice to hear it tows well. Considering moving into one sometime in next year from my 22. I really like my current truck, but the bed is on the small side for my activities, and am looking to get a small camper sometime in the future.
