Anyone know of any differences in towing between the TRD off road and TRD sport/SR5? Some trucks lose payload or towing capacity with an offroad suspension but not the Tacoma. I currently tow a 3000# boat/trailer with my gen 2 SR5 and it tows pretty well. I wasn't sure if the off road sagged more with tongue weight. I may trading for a new TRD sport or off road in the next few months. Thanks.

If it's a v6 tow package I'm pretty sure they are all the same.

IIRC shocks are the suspension change between models for a ride impact.

But it's the cheesy leaf springs that carry the load, and they are the same on all 6 lugs AFAIK.

The factory tow package vs non factory tow package changes the max tow weight. That’s for automatic transmissions, I don’t know if there is a difference for a manual transmissions.

I have an 06 long bed t rd sport 4.0 dbl cab. Leaf spring recall resulted in Toyota swapping my two rear leaf spring set up for three leaf springs. Rides better.
I tow a 4650lb empty rated camper. Added firestone air bags and weight distribution hitch. Just completed trip ohio to north Carolina. Towed fine although it was faster down hills than up.

I tow a 4,500lb travel trailer with our 2017 TRD Off-Road. It has the same tow rating as the other models, so I don’t believe the rating is any different. I looked at the Colorado when I bought my tacoma, and the ZR2’s max rating was roughly 2,000lbs less than the Z71 because of the suspension like you said. Ford Raptor has the same issue from what I’ve read.
