It's a proof of concept. Putting the axle further back is to achieve exactly what this is demonstrating.

 

First rule I learned when I worked loading heavy pallets on a flat deck pintle hitch trailer behind a half ton; always load the front heavier than the back.

Unfortunately moving the axles was never and option lol.

 

Unfortunately, this doesn't demonstrate the problems inherent with too much tongue weight. Too much tongue weight can make your tow rig difficult to steer or stop, especially if you're braking hard. That's why it's important to balance the load on your trailer, not just load up one end or the other.

 

For conventional trailers with ball-mounted hitches, proper tongue weight is roughly 10 to 15 percent of the total loaded trailer weight.

Exceeding max tongue weigh of the vehicle is a different subject, and doing so has obvious visual cues - ass low/ nose high. A rear loaded trailer (even a "balanced" trailer) will fail to track straight at much lighter weights than you're referring to, and may not be visually obvious - such as backing a pickup onto a car hauler (the truck is "centered" on the trailer). We can nit pick examples to no end. Lets just agree that a trailer tracks better when slightly tongue heavy.

 

Isn't the basic rule of thumb something like 60% of the weight forward of the axle?
