Years ago when I moved my now wife's crap over here I was pulling a 12ft uhaul trailer. I guess I didn't get it loaded correctly as I was hauling furniture and other stuff, but on the way home I kept getting the tail wag when semi trucks would pass me and their wind would be enough to move the trailer just a little and then the trailer started wagging my truck. There were no visual clues that it wasn't loaded correctly.

    no

it depends where the weight is. period. more weight ahead of axle

axle can be anywhere any normal legal trailer could attach them.

weight can only be distributed a certain way to be safe, 10-15% more of the load on the tongue

Usually, you position the axle under the trailer such that the trailer will tow stable without ANY added weight.

And we all know that the singular PURPOSE of a trailer is to carry THINGS, i.e. MORE WEIGHT.

plz stop talking about axles in this thread

why are people posting about positioning the axle ?

no one this gif is aimed at, gets a trailer and moves the friggin axle.

they get a trailer, and load it and off they go

they may overload or misload it, then get squirrely on the highway and wreck

anyone who has a trailer and moves the axle, it is not too far fetched to assume
they know what they are doing, therefore do not need this gif to drive the point home

You buy the trailer with the axle already positioned. This is a huge problem with the Harbor Freight trailers because the axle is at the half way mark. Many people who know what they are doing relocate the axle farther back

    What about boat trailers?

Depending on the trailer you either move the axle or the winch assembly to achieve proper tongue weight.

You aren't using your head. I'm talking about MANUFACTURING the trailer, not using it.

This got out of hand rather quickly. Just tow within specification of vehicle. Then drive within specification of load. I.E. Don't be stupid. My uncle Ed always told me......"if your gonna be stupid, you gotta be tough"
