I have an 2004 TRD quad-cab V6 w/automatic. It has the factory class 4 hitch. My father-in-law wants to know if it can pull his 23ft boat. It's a in/out with a V-8, tandem trailer with surge-brakes.

Any of you tow a boat this size with a 1st gen????

My guess is a good place to start would be finding out how much the boat and trailer weigh, then checking the owner's manual.. I don't know the towing capacity of the 04s but the manual should tell you.

Your Tacoma will be able to pull 5,000 lbs.
