Hey guys. I'm in the market for a trailer. I got a 19 Tacoma 4 door short bed trd off-road. I've been finding these little toyhaulers. Dry 3000lbs and wet 7000lbs and was wondering what everyone was towing and what the opinions were

    The truck likes 3K loads.
The truck absolutely hates 6K loads.
    7K? Good luck with that.

Yeah I agree tho I will say I've towed things just about as heavy on the ranch and it does better than expected. Just curious what my expectations should be cause I've seen people pulling crazy trailers with this little truck. I've got a dirt bike but it don't fit in my bed. I should've got the long bed lol

I've pulled 6.5K with it. After that, I traded for a Tundra. Now I do not have to tow those loads, I traded back to a Tacoma.
I believe in the right tool for the job.

I can take a 3/8ths ratchet with a 22mm socket and put a pipe on it to break 120 ft lb nut loose. Or, I can get an air impact to do the same.

The 3.5 is pretty gutless for towing but I also tow at 6000+ feet. Even after adding a supercharger it isn’t ideal but does get the job done without much complaint. I tow 3000lb boats a few times a month and after the supercharger the truck does fine other than poor fuel economy. I wouldn’t want to tow more than 5000lbs for any distance.

I heard a tune helps out with the gutless part.

The truck tows fine without a tune with the 3.5. Put the transmission in 5th or 6th gear by moving the shift lever to the left and up once or twice and push the ECT button when you start the truck. If you encounter a big hill, you'll need to be in rightmost lane. I was getting 13 MPG towing a clamshell trailer with 2 sleds in it and full of cargo most of the time. 6500 lbs is definitely pushing it though.

a clamshell is a whole different game compared to a travel trailer. The wind drag on a travel trailer is not a fun towing experience,

Makes sense. I also tow a 19 ft boat and that seems to work pretty well but I've never tried a travel trailer.
