Help anyone. Started my 2014 this morning and the trac off light and engine check light on the instrument panel are illuminated and remain on as long as engine is running. When I shut down and restart they come on again and stay illuminated. Any suggestions as to cause or
    and repair....anyone???

Could be as simple as a loose gas cap (Evaporative Emissions Fault). Check the cap then disconnect the battery to reset. Could also be a speed sensor...

Thanks Eddo. I did change the gas cap last weekend to a lockable type so will go down and apply your suggestion. Hope it fixes the problem and thanks much for your response.

Take it to Auto Zone and get it scanned.

Its gonna be a fuel cap issue or air injection pump and/or valves. Most likely the cap, though. The lockable ones can be pretty cheaply made. Put the original back on and disconnect the battery for a few seconds and reattach. The code will be cleared. Hopefully its the cap. The AIP repairs can be pretty spendy.

Just changed off my new lockable gascap for the old original one and disconnected the battery terminals for a minute and reconnected. Miss Trac Off light and Mr Checkengine light still illuminated. Will allow to stand for the night and then recheck in morning. This failing will move on to purchase a good analyzer/code reader as all cars nowadays are computerized.....what a lot of bull and a huge money grab that computers can be, Thanks koditten as well.

Hopefully it stays off. It takes a while for a bad gas cap to trip the check engine light. If you have no light after 2-3 days, you can be assured it was the cap.

I just hope that this is the problem as just going to Toyota will cost $200 for the assessment plus parts or such. In any event it appears that I will not be able to use that lockable gascap anymore and am stuck with it so $25 Canadian dollars wasted. Just hoping that it is not a more major problem as quite coincidental that it illuminated just after I changed gascaps. Hoping here and thanks again! At least computers do have some good uses huh!

It is most likely that new gas cap. I had the same happen with my 3rd Gen. I disconnected battery for 15 minutes and then restarted and all lights gone. Glwr

I had the same thing happen with a locking gas cap. Ended up going back to OEM. I have an ultragauge, so I was able to reset the code. Have heard others have had similar issues with aftermarket caps. CEL will come on initially, then after a while the trac off light. Something to do with emissions.

Just for future reference, when the MIL (check engine lamp) comes on, the VSC, Trac and/or ABS lamps will illuminate as well. The PCM just disables those systems (fail safe) until the cause of the MIL is corrected. Usually a code of C1201 will be stored, no troubleshooting should be done with the C1201 until the MIL is cleared.
