Hey guys....looking for some help. Going to buy a new set of tires while im home from school for thanksgiving break. Right now I have Toyo H/T on my 2006 tacoma but i am not a fan at all. I want something more aggressive that will work year round. I do a lot of driving in snow and dirt roads for hunting. Debating between the Hankook Dynapro ATM LT vs the Toyo A/T Open Country but can't decide which one to go with.

I have the Toyo Open Country A/T's. I love them! I really do not have much top compare them to. I had the stock dunflops before so take my reccomendation with a grain of salt.

However, I run them all year and they are great in the Maine snow. I also use them off road to hunt. They havnt let me down yet. I have gone into some pretty tough spots with them and was able to get back out with no problems.

If you do alot of highway driving and some off road like I do, I would say those are a good compromise.

Tough call, they both look good. The Hankooks seem to have some tread that wrapps around the sidewall a bit so that would be the one that I would go with out of these two.

^^^^The Toyo tire pic above is their regular Open Country A/T. The newer Toyo model, Open Country A/T II, more closely compares with the Hankook DynaPro ATm. They're very similar in features and specs. I recently purchased a set of the Toyo Open Country A/T II's in p265/70/17. Their p-rated tires have a 65,000 mile warranty, and I got a nice OTD price on them from Discount Tire.

Both tires have received good overall reviews, and either would make a nice choice for an all-terrain tire for your truck. Good luck!

I went with the Hankooks... Been a great tire so far (12000 mi +/-).

One thing to keep in mind if you get them: At least on our light trucks they seem to take a few hundred miles to break in and stop feeling shuddery like they are out of balance. This is with the P rated version even, which I went with.

hankooks any day of the week. I have run both on my ford f350 and currently have the hankooks on my f350 and tacoma. if you go 265-70-17 you can put the 10 ply hankooks on your tacoma if you want a really tough tire. When I ran Toyo at on my ford they only last about 25,000 miles. I have also ran the toyo mt and they lasted about 40,000 miles on my ford. I currently have the hankooks on my ford with about 16,000 miles on them and they still look like new. Pretty good for a heavy truck that usually has a heavy camper on the back of it. They are quiet, ride nice, great performance in snow and ice and they will out last the toyo's. I will keep going with hankooks on both of my trucks. Toyo's are also a great tire and I think they will last longer on a lighter truck than they did on my ford, so neither are a bad decision, but my vote is for the hankooks.

Never tried the Toyos so I can't help you there. I chose between Hankook Dynapro ATMs and Cooper Discoverer ATPs. I went with the Hankooks and really like them so far.
