Between the toyo's and falken, is one of them noticeably better in the snow? That's my biggest concern for the canyons here in Utah

In that regard, My Rubitreks are better in the snow. Granted, I was in DFW with the Toyos, but I drove to work in 6” of snow…they don’t plow in Texas!

My Rubitreks claw like Blizzaks. I would imagine the AT4 is similar.

    Spot on.

I sacrificed 3 pounds vs. the Toyos when I bought Rubitreks. I spend a fair amount of time on snow or in mud, very happy with my choice. The Toyos are the only sub 40lb AT tire I found.

You have been officially warned :rasta:

With that said, I’m not a PRO etc. I had Falken 3’s and with the exception of the awesome traction/siping in rain, I don’t care for them much. Most particularly the other day when I saw this crack. It was wider when I parked it after a drive! So I decided to air down as low as possible for the drive to AT and switch them out for Hankook’s. So far so good, but as far as ice, I was impressed. The traction was good with 4WD.

    Plumbers big time, lol.

You should have seen the shoulders of the tread blocks:anonymous:

I have more photos, but you get the idea what happened to these 4. I’m not saying I was easy on them. In fact, tough. But a good tire needs to check that!

    Update 04/25/2024

Been running bilstiens 5100 noticable differences on bumps and offroad not so much on street imo, only driven around 400 miles to tell. Toyos running well they do drive like the stock Wranglers as far as noise n road feel.

So far very happy with the look so far, looking forward to sole trails to actually test out the bilstiend

    I am done with Falken.

I just bought some new AT4's. I had the AT3's and loved them.

From day 1 they have had balancing issues with vibes around 55-60 MPH. It is bullshit!

    • They were balanced when installed at the tire shop. Got vibrations...
    • I had them re balanced at the tire shop I purchased them at. No luck...
    • I tried my local mechanic who said the tire shop guys are idiots, now the tires should be good. No luck...
    • I brought them to a different shop to have them road force balanced. They said my local mechanic who did it is an idiot. No luck...
Looks like I am the idiot!

I plan to look at my paper work today from the tire shop to see if I can get rid of them and try something different. They have some kind of "if you're not happy" warrantee and hopefully I haven't gone over the mileage.

    Why cant anything be easy?

I just have to say, those Rock Warrior wheels are some of the best looking wheels and I kick myself for not getting a set when I could.

I wouldn't rule out the K03, the tread siping and water evacuators look much much better than the K02 and reviews sound very promising. That being said 265/75R16 isn't available till August.

That is how my experience with Falken AT3W went. It’s a very draining experience to go back to the tire shop (or a new shop that you pay for in hopes of better balancing results) and be told “oh yeah, 2 tires were way out of balance! Should be good now.”…..and drive away and sure enough, problem is still there. To go to multiple shops and have the same thing occur, I’d be livid.

I’ll definitely never buy anything Falken again.

Well this thread of making me reconsider the at4/w… I’ll check out the Toyo as well. I was also checking out Kenda Klever at2.

I did like with a quick look the toyos offer 295/75/16.

No experience with the KO3 personally, but I highly doubt they will be great at wet traction. They still have a very off-road oriented tread. There is more siping but I doubt that will make a massive difference. Guess time will tell. Wet traction is the only reason I don’t go with BFG. I drive too much to be sliding all over the place every time DFW rains. If the KO3 can prove me wrong, I’ll probably consider them next time.

I have had the Toyo Open Country's in the past and had great luck with them. That is likely what I will switch over to if I can get rid of the Falken's.
