The siping helps some in the wet but that's mainly for grabbing and holding onto snow for winter weather traction. The water evacuator channels are what matter, and they're much larger than K02 and span more of the tread. Not paid by BFG and I run Falkens lol, so ymmv. K03 would be my next tire if they were out in the 16" sizes I'm looking for though.

E’s are 3, C’s are 2 (typically). There might be some exceptions to that depending on if they’re LT flotation or LT metric, I’m not sure. The sidewall of each tire will tell how many plies.

Don't rule out other options as well, I went for toyo because road noise, tread warranty, occasional offroading and apparently better rain traction. Seemed like the best AT for my Florida weather. Best to do whats best for you!

I ran the Toyos for 48k on my 4Runner and never had any issues. That said I also had a set of steelies and Firestone M/T2’s I’d toss on for wheeling / camping trips. They were the OWL flavor in 285/70/17 which had a slightly larger diameter but less aggressive sidewalls. Just replaced them with the new Duratrac RT-LT and so far so good. Massive improvement over the previous versions of the DT.

Goodyear is not making the RT flavor in 265/75/16 or 235/85/16 so I’m looking at the Toyo’s or A/T4W for my 1st gen.

I do have a set of Yoko G003’s on the Tacoma now so like my 4Runner I’ve got a set of “woods” wheels/tires to swap over to for trips.

seeing the issues folks have had with the Falkens has solidified my direction with the LT265/75/16 Toyo’s.

    pics cause we like pics.

    UPDATE:

I went back to the Tire Shop where I purchased the Falken's. They offer a 30 day trial where you can return them if you are not happy. Thankfully they honored that.

They replaced the Falken's with the Toyo Open Country AT3's. SMOOTH AS SILK!!!

It is too bad, I had high hopes for those Falken's. If you get a good set, I am sure they are great tires. However, mine were definitely out of round. What a headache!

    Thanks for the help all!!!

I've ran KO2's, AT3W's, Milestars, and now Toyo AT3's. So far I like the Toyo's the best. My only complaint is they are a little louder than the others.

I have heard reports about the SL AT3's. I have not heard that same complaint about the LT/E-rated Toyo AT3's. I've had my Toyo AT3 LT/E-rated 285/75/17 for about 10 months now and they are doing fine.

Yep. The SLs that have the nice grippy compound for really good wet traction wear out rather quick. The LTs are worse in the wet but last longer. Pretty much the same compromise that all tires face, and similar with things like brake pads as well. Can’t have it all. At least the Toyos almost always ride smooth. I have had one issue across 6 sets of them (multiple vehicles). I’d say that’s pretty good.

I have Toyo's on my F150. They were great for the 1st 40,000 miles. Since about that point they have gotten progressively louder. They are supposed to be a 60,000 mile tire. I should be able to get 50-55K out of them and still have legal tread depth. I have a long road trip planned for this summer pulling our small Travel trailer. I'm not going to listen to the roar for 3 weeks and 6000+ miles.

I'll have 45,000-46,000 on them before we leave, and they would need to be replaced by the time I get back anyway. I'm buying new tires in June before we leave. Buying Michelin this time. I'd probably buy new tires before leaving even without the noise.

Toyo’s are consistently one of the best quality products on the market. The same cannot be said for Falkens.
For clarity I have Falken AT3’s on my Taco and Toyo AT3’s on my GX.
The Falken are a good tire, the Toyo’s are a GREAT tire.
For the Taco in particular I pay attention to tire weight, the new Falken AT4’s are ridiculously overweight.
    That’s my 2 cents.

SL's also have significantly less tread depth at new than LT and E treads from Toyo. You will see "faster wear" as there is less to wear. I still like the Toyo AT3's on my Sport, going on my 5th summer with them, they are on a separate wheel set, for summer use, (pavement princess). They were the lightest in class, and closest to the weight of the OEM a30's that came stock so, I didnt take a huge fuel mileage hit when swapping tires. When it is time to replace, it will be with another set of the AT3's. Ski

Purchased my SL 265/70/17 Toyo's Nov 2021. 2.5 Years old now. 25,000 miles. Been a great all round A/T tire so far. Especially with PNW's very wet weather and periods of snow/wet snow. 3 tires now at 7/32" or greater and one at 6/32".

Daily driver, summer road tripper, light off roader exploring and looking for huckleberries. No vibrations and road noise is acceptable. First A/T tire I've ever purchased. Hated the look of the stock Firestone Destination LE2's. Love the looks of the Toyo's.

So far I'm very happy with the performance of the Toyo's. The SL Toyo is a reasonable compromise for the looks and decent overall performance compared to the Michelin's. However, If it we not for vanity, I'd probably go back to a Michelin Defender M/S one size up from stock like the Toyo's. Best bang for buck daily driver, summer road tripper IMO.

Or throw all logic out the window. In about 2 years as I consider retirement and the truck is paid off, I may consider a small suspension lift and upgrade to 33" skinny tires with SEMA wheels in another Toyo SL to get a little deeper off road. But truck would have to not be a daily driver anymore once in retirement.

been reading up on the new WP and seem to be very heavy, strong sidewall, but always alot of talk about balance issues with WP in general (where is smoke there may be fire)
but liking the look of the FALKEN Rubitrek and TOYOS for now
    my 2 cents worth
