Thanks for the advice! Will definitely be getting dedicated winters. Gotten lots of great info on what to do for shoulder and summer seasons. Liking the idea of wildpeaks but worried about balancing. Like the idea of something like the Yokohamas for mainly on road/highway with light off road.

My Falkens performed great in the snow for me. Decent grip but is no dedicated snow tire

What I did was bought a cheap set of all terrains for summer now, and dedicated Yokohama winters.

The Yokohama G015 is a great all terrain, but they are priiiiiicey.

Where I am I'll need true winters but I'm glad to hear you find the G015 a good tire! Thank you!

I just got the Wildpeaks last fall, 265/75-16 in the 4 ply like you're looking at. They replaced Michelin Defenders, which I've been running for the last 20 years. I had them on my old T-100 prior to my Taco.
I absolutely love the Wildpeaks. We had a good snow here and sub zero temps around Christmas. They performed much better than the Michelins and even ride nicer. My neighbor buried his Camry in a big drift just down the road from our house, so I was driving around it, trying to pull him out. Had there been a good place to hook onto his car, we'd have gotten him out without digging for an hour. Damn, it was cold that day, about zero, with a brisk wind. My truck felt like a tractor!
The only thing I have to see yet, is how they wear. I'm at about 8-9,000 miles on them now and would buy them again if I had to make the choice today.
    Mine balanced fine.

My wildpeaks have been bomb proof off-road. I’ve tested them in all conditions. E rated 255/80/17.

    Zero issues balancing.

I’ve had duratracs and KO2s as well. Duratracs were beasts off-road and in deep snow but terrible on wet pavement. They were also noisy.

KO2s were decent, but the tread pattern is very outdated. Definitely better tires out there.

Glad to see another BC Tacoma, looks awesome! Won't be offroading to the extent that you have but nice to hear you have had a positive experience with them.

Been running a set in LT235/85/16 for the last 9 months. Only a few pounds heavier than stock but a size up. I have Yokohama’s on all my cars. Wife’s Subaru Outback has sl geolandars that are at 62k miles and still have a ton of tread left.

The LT’s tread pattern is totally different than the sl. Shoulder blocks are 3 times bigger and block staggering is different. They handle snow just fine. No worries in water either.

I’ve run every type of Yokohama from advans on my 95 three rotor rx-7 geolandars on my wife’s Outback and Yokohama mud terrains on my old ram overland truck and now geolandars on the Tacoma. Have always gotten more miles than the warranty and have never had an issue. No blowouts always easy to align and handle weight( 25 40 lb bags of wood pellets once a week) for 3 months.

I off-road from mild trails to overgrown forest service roads to hundreds of miles on unpaved county roads in Wyoming and Montana runs through Utah and a shit ton ofhighways miles as well. I’m probably 60/40 highway to off-road. The geolandars are not the best at any one specific thing. I think they are the best compromise tire to get the best of everything possible. Are there better off-road tires? Sure but don’t travel across the country on them. Are there better looking tires? Sure but I don’t build my vehicles to look any part. I build them to get me where I need to go and back again regardless of the situation or location. In my opinion if you solely buy a tire based on looks then you have no room to bitch when you find out the areas it doesn’t do well in.

    As you asked for.

Sorry, I haven't run the X-Ice on the Taco (yet), only my cars. But I plan to get some mounted on the stock wheels for next winter. Looking at the Nokians too.

I'm also in a manual, got wildpeaks with a plan of running them all season round based on the reviews and input on this forum about how good they are in the snow.

I'm on the edge of the foothills outside of Calgary, so I'm in snow for as much as we're not. In January this year I couldn't take it anymore, I bought a cheap part-worn set of Blizzaks and there is no comparison.

I had tried messing with different tyre pressures, weight in the bed, whilst some of these options made the wildpeaks marginally better in winter, it was nothing compared to the improvements the Blizzaks gave me.

It's one thing playing around in fresh powered snow (which the wildpeaks are fine for), it's another thing trying to maintain traction and the ability to brake on a part plowed highway that's been through a few freeze-thaw cycles. I thoroughly recommend getting a true winter.
