    Hi
I have an 06 taco, the old tires are Duratracs and theyre warped and wobbles as the tread is deformed as the tread is so chunky
i do mostly pavement and a bit of off road to mtn bike and get to rivers to kayak
Aim for the next few years is to be in ontario for a while then BC
toyos At2 or K02 seem to be the best but unsure what theyre like for highway
    Anyone??

I loved my Toyo open country’s. Good tread and quiet on the highway. The BFGs are overrated IMO. I’ve never owned them but for the price they’re just not worth it.

If I had to choose, it would be the Toyo. My friend has them and loves them. I’m going with the hankook dynapro next month when I get new tires (had them on my older truck and loved them) IMO the KO2’s are very heavy and overrated. Check the weights of the two tires your looking at and you’ll see what I mean. Good luck!

I have the Toyo's and have nothing but good things to say. As mentioned, they're quiet on the highway (mine currently have about 20k on them), have decent mileage for an AT, seem to be wearing well, and handle the rain, and snow well.

I run the Toyo open country m/t and I love them good wearing tires for a m/t no punctures even tread wear if rotation is done @ oil change and they are not to loud for a m/t. I am think their a/t would be constructed just as good.

I think I have tried all the AT tires over my years. I have had 4 or 5 sets of bfg and a couple sets of Toyos. I like both of those tires but I do think the BFGs are overrated. Both the BFG and the Toyo are tough and nails never a flat with either. Both will yield very good tread life but slight advantage to the Toyos as I do think they wear better. Neither is a dedicated snow tire, BFGs do good in deep snow but on slushy snow covered New England roads they leave a lot to be desired. The Toyo is a better all season IMO but not as good in snow as your duratracs. Both have good highway manners, I found both to be quiet for AT tires. Both will be much quieter than your duratracs. Neither is aggressive looking as the duratrac but I do think they are amongst the best looking ATs.

Both of these tires are heavy and stiff walled especially in LT rating. I really dont think you could go wrong with either as both top notch. There are other tires equally as good, less stiff, and lighter than both though.

I am currently running Terragrapplers in non snow months and mastercraft MSRs in the winter. Prior to that I ran a few sets of duratracs. My next set of ATs will either be Falken Wildpeak AT3 or the Toyo AT 2.

Do most folks need an AT tire at all?

I would guess the majority do not. I'd never run an MT personally but ATs do perform well. I am better than 99% highway.

If you dont need an AT I would 100% go with a Michelen LTX. Awesome highway tire and lasts forever.
