So far so good, I’m about 5K in on my Toyos and I love them. I’m probably going to get them again in 235/80R17 soon.

I have not had any wet traction issues, I am pretty hypersensitive to sliding in the rain as I’ve had many troubles over the years with other tires. The Toyos are one of the better ones in my experience. Maybe as I get more miles that will change, time will tell.

Is it maybe the load rating that changes the sidewall?

I have been running my Toyo AT3's since March. Over 10,000kms on them. They have been flawless. I live in the south west coast of B.C. so wet traction is very important to me. These have never given me any doubts at highway speed in downpours or any other condition. I would recommend these tires.

What little bit of wet driving I have done in my Tacoma and yes she is a garage queen my Toyo at2s we're flawless in the rain. My son is on his second set of Toyo at2s now on At3s and he swears by them. I only have 20k miles on the truck and about 16k on the tires and they are still like new, hell they may dry rot before I wear them out. I have always thought of a falken tire as a low rated tire.

I just got Wildpeaks 265/75R16. So far no regrets. Looking forward to see how snow/wet traction will be this winter.

I believe the Toyo ATII’s were criticized for poor wet traction performance. That turned me off for that one particular reason. The ATIII’s were redesigned with wet traction performance improvements in mind. Like @Speedfreak says, I too live in the same region so wet weather traction was very important. This is why I too went with the ATIII’s. Approaching one year and they have been awesome. We even had catastrophic atmospheric rivers of rain here weeks after I just had the tires installed. Very happy with them and wet weather performance for an do all A/T tire. Mine were made in the USA. One size up from stock. They also look great!

Don't have a comparison of the Wildpeaks but opted for the ATIIIs and so far they are a great tire. Great dry and wet traction, road noise is very minimal. Comfort is good over bumps. Would but again if I had to.

I have those tires in the mountains and they did great last winter. Powder snow, slush, ice, wet pavement.

That's not correct but anyhow my at2s have been perfectly fine for the rain, in fact I run them on my older 4runners. Now a bfg all terrain sucks ass in the rain.

I went with the P-metric which I believe is SL. Don’t need E rated as I’m a daily driver and light off roader. Especially now with gas prices here approaching $8 -$9 a gallon or $2.40 to $2.50 a litre.

My Gen 2 has been wearing Toyos for several years now in the rainy and wet PNW... Not one concern in that time...

Good to hear your 2’s are performing well in the rain. However while researching the 2’s vs the 3’s this was was a theme that popped up.

The new Open Country A/T 3 improves on the already impressive A/T 2 in almost every way. Tread design has been advanced and made a touch more aggressive while still retaining the familiar look. In fact, the sidewall and tread design are more reminiscent of the A/T 2 Extreme. Wet braking and handling have been significantly improved, as has snow performance. Speaking of snow performance, the Toyo Open Country A/T 3 is now severe snow rated and carries the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol. Article.

The Open Country AT3 handles better on wet surfaces, thanks to the wider contact patch which offers maximum traction and confidence. The 3D siping on this upgraded version is deeper and so it does a better job at evacuating the water and prevents the chances of hydroplaning. Article.

Toyo AT2 also has a pretty good on road traction as well. But the main issue with this tire is the wet traction. The tire does not go well with moisture. Article.

I have never experienced any issues what so ever in the rain on any of my vehicles with the AT2s nor the AT3s when driving my son's truck. I asked him last night about a difference between he noticed between his last set and he sees no difference in the way his tacoma behaved in the rain. However it rides better snf of course its a better updated Toyo ATs. Now I use to run BFGs AT and they sucked in the rain!

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
I ran Wildpeaks on my 2015 Ram 1500 for about 30,000 miles until I traded the truck in this week and bought a Tacoma. They still had a solid 40% tread left and I have no reason to think thru wouldn't have made it another 20,000. They were relatively quiet on the highway (at least I couldn't hear them over the Flowmaster muffler) and seemed to do well in the rain. My only complaint was they could have been better in the snow but at the same time the damn Ram stability system was so intrusive it wouldn't let you build any momentum or wheel speed when you needed to blast up an unplowed driveway or through some deep snow. I'm hoping to put some more aggressive tires on my Tacoma before winter hits. The Cooper Rugged Trek looks like it's a little more aggressive so I might give that a whirl.

ATIII are much better in wet that ATII. I can attest to that.
Both have the same identical sidewalls. I have 3 that are made in US and one in Japan.

My Falkens came from discount tire. All 4 made in Japan. They are the best tire I think I've had. They are excellent in snow and rain. Very quiet as well.
