Had 33" AT2's on a Dodge and and now have 33" AT3's on the Taco. I bought them because the AT2's performed so well and the updated AT3 is rated even better. I can hear them but, they're not loud at all. Great on streets and highway and the E-rating makes them tough for off-road (think Arizona rocks!) and they grip well, too.

Falkens look really good but I don't give shit what they look like. I'm sure they're good or it would be all over TW because they're so popular.
If only Toyo made a "skinny" 35" in the AT3. I mean they're half way there...TOYO(TA), get it? Are you listening Toyo? Are you?:angrygirl::annoyed::frusty::notsure:

I have both… WPs on my Taco (265/75/16s) and Toyo AT3s (285/75/17s = 34s) on my 4runner. Both are very good as far as traction, road noise, snow, etc... But the Wildpeaks were much harder to balance properly for me. The Toyos balanced perfectly like nothing, but 2 of my 4 WPs needed rebalancing twice after the initial balance. I still get small vibes around 70 mph that goes away when I rotate the fronts to the rear. The vibes used to be a lot worse, but they’re still not perfect. I’m sick of wasting any more of my time at the tire shop tho, so I will respond with my wallet in the future and not buy another set of WPs.

I dont have a Taco anymore, but I installed some 315/75/R16 Toyo AT3's on my 80 series, and something that I found impressive is how well they balance. Incredibly smooth. They are made in Japan too. The guys at the tire shop did mention that Toyos usually balance very well.

Agreed about the Toyo's. Had mine now for 8 months. For rain, snow, the concrete jungle and highways to the cabin they have been awesome. Got them up to 140 KMph Or 86 MPH and smooth as silk. Off road I'm just on logging roads and fine so far.

Nice looking truck there! Gives me good feelings already about the tires, and haven’t even gotten them in yet. Thinking I made the right choice, I was worried about a balancing issues with the wildpeaks…

Also I’m a pretty big AIC myself too, so I appreciated your profile pic and bio :D

Also, the taco takes 315mhz tpms sensors right? I ordered some 315mhz Autel ones since I know they’re a reputable brand, hoping my local tire shop can program them into my ecm without much trouble. If not hopefully they could just throw them in and then if I had to take it somewhere else they don’t need to dismount the tires to program them I’m hoping… :fingerscrossed:

I had both in SL rated 285/70/17's on my old 2011 4Runner. The falkens were made in china. Absolutely could not be balanced. 3 had road force numbers over 35 and one of them had a good 2 inch hop in it also. Wound up sending them back to Falken and they eventually refunded me for them like 9 months later. I wound up with the Toyo AT3's. Loved the look of them, great road manners as far as grip and cornering, decent off road but sucked in the snow. I rotate my tires every 5k miles. My trucks are always properly aligned and in excellent mechanical shape. The AT3's were cupping badly in about 2500 miles. I kept rotating them, got the truck back on alignment rack, fine, changed my then 15k mile 5100's on the front, aligned it again... By 20k miles they were so chopped I couldn't stand them any more and replaced them with the much milder G015 Yokohama's. I had the truck another 10k miles with those and they wore perfect. And they were amazing in the snow. The BFG long trails on my Tacoma are wearing perfect too. And great in snow. Basically it all comes down to what you want the tires to do. I know I won't be running any of the "almost" mud tires on my DD again. An off road toy sure. But then why not go with real off road tires. I don't run knobbies on my ADV bike any more for the same reason. 90 percent of the time it's on pavement.

If you got the MX clone sensors you can buy the Autel tool, copy the OEM sensor ID# and upload it on to one sensor, repeat the next three, yourself. Then follow the TPMS button instructions in the OM, done. No programming the PCM/ECU!

I have three wheel sets for my Tacoma with two sets of Autel sensors and OEM sensors so the truck never needs to have the TPMS reprogrammed.

Damn, I’m sorry to hear that. Didn’t realize there were Chinese TOYOs. Ran outside to make sure mine weren’t made in China, thankfully it was produced in Japan.

I have the AT3Ws and they have been great in the snow/ice/rocks. Fine on the pavement too. Never had any balance issues.

    Nothing...yet
I switched from BFG KM3's (Mud Terrain) to the AT3W's and could not be happier. I was a little nervous about grip in the mud but hit some nasty soupy clay and they dug right in. Maybe not as much as the MT's but they pulled me out without much effort.

sorry, I should have been more clear, I have Falken wild peaks made in China not Toyos . The wild peaks I bought pre 2019 all said made in Thailand. The two sets I have bought since then have all said made in China.

I’ve always been a BFG guy (3 sets over several years, excellent tires) but late last year I couldn’t find K02’s anywhere, so I got a set of Toyo AT3’s. Been happy with them so far with a little over 6000 miles on them. I think the tread was better on the BFG’s.
The Toyo’s seem like they are louder than than the BFG’s too.

When I started looking, the Toyo's weren't on my radar. Then they were recommended to me by a guy at work. After looking into them, I was sold. I have had them on for a bit over 5000kms and they are holding up very well. Low noise compared to other AT's I have had in the past. Excellent wet traction, smooth highway ride. I haven't had an opportunity to off-road with them... just gravel roads so far... I have had zero issue with them... I have and will recommend them to others that ask...20211118_155412.jpg 20220531_145634.jpg

I went with 265-70R17 SL's. I don't need the heavier load rating of LT.

I've had both and would 100% recommend the Toyos A/T IIIs. I've put about 20,000 miles on mine and they have been perfect. The are quite, balance perfectly and perform very well in all conditions.
The Falkens were not anywhere near the same level of quality as the Toyos. They had constant balancing issues and had mediocre ride quality AT BEST. They are a budget tire that used to be priced as such. I wouldn't recommend those tires to anyone now.

All I know is that the AT3s on my dads F150 are loud af. They are size 34s. Compared to my stock tires on the Tacoma its annoying to ride in it. Im sure you get used to it and probably how all the AT tires sound

Really appreciate all your guys’ feedback. I think I definitely made a pretty good decision from what I’m hearing.

Question for all you guys running 255/80/R17’s, what pressure have you guys found to be good for daily driving? I get I would need to air down going off-road, but what have you guys found for everyday driving to be good? I was thinking like 35ish??
