    At my dealer they list as an installed package “Toyoguard Platinum”. It includes some oil changes (2 I think) and 4 tire rotations. It also includes “paint protector” and “interior protector”. Does anyone know what this actually is? I had a new VW Jetta ordered once with “paint protector” and it was shipped from Germany, coated in cosmoline to prevent salt air induced corrosion on the ship. The day I was to pick up the new car, a teenager was buffing thru the black paint exposing gray primer on the trunk lid. The buffing pads started out as white, were dark black. So my brand new car was having the paint removed so I got the full value of the paint protector they charged me for. Is Toyota , as a Corporation, sanctioning the application of any product to the paint? Does it hurt the paint? How is it applied? Does it violate the factory warranty if installed at the dealership? Same questions about the interior protector? I don’t want anything applied to the paint or interior. Is it possible to get a truck without these “options”? I bought my 2016 TRDOR and it had none of this. I recently sold it and now in market for 2023 TRDOR.

    ToyoGuard is a product added by Southeast Toyota. Not the dealership.

    Google it and/or ask your salesperson.

    I just found the exclusions for the paint protector: b. damage to your vehicle from any cause, including without limitation damage from any paint defects, foreign object damage, collisions, scratches, abrasions, dents or nicks, whatever their cause, or damage caused by acid rain, corrosion, rust, industrial fallout, chemical spills, insects, bird droppings, trees, or environmental pollutants;

    The excluded items like acid rain, bird droppings , etc are the most likely items to challenge the paint. Other than obvious “use issues” like a rock chipping it. The best protection for these excluded items is to “not modify the factory applied paint”. That’s my issue. Leave the factory paint alone and you get the best protection. If you remove paint, like with a buffer, you are losing protection. It has happened to me before. Ceramic coatings may be good but they are not doing that.

    If it's Platinum, it must be good! :)

    Interior protection is probably just a can of scotch guard applied by some mouth breather. Paint protection; I have no clue?

    if they can't show you exactly what they are using and doing, we can't.
    It's profit generator.

    I have buddies that work at dealerships, and in the shop, they have name for some of the services they sell, IE a fuel system flush is known as a "wallet flush"

    Every new Toyota gets that.

    The other fluff is SE Toyota's way to pillage your wallet for weak sauce.
