Your dealer can track your truck anytime they want to - and they can give you the VIN. Once a vehicle is produced it takes about a day for the dealer to get the VIN. From that point, they can track the vehicle using the Dealer Daily system - and if they are a good dealership can email you a screenshot from time to time so you can track the progress. Ask them for it and see what they say. Here is one of the ones I got on my 2020.

If you get your VIN from the dealer, and you want o take the time to set up a (free) account, you can track your Tacoma on the BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) rail website, too. At least if it is travelling on their system. Not sure if you can do the same on the UP/NS/CSX/CP/CN rails as well.

I was able to watch mine go from the factory, to San Diego, then all the way to Chicago (Joliet, actually) with updated locations every couple of hours. Kind of neat.

I had a build date on March 16. 2023 and my dealer has said no permanent vin yet, and gave me this screenshot, would the vin on this be the permanent vin in question? And why would a truck built on the 16th not have a vin yet? Seems weird to me..IMG_5382.jpg
