Toyota A340f transmission accumulator piston

    I purchased a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 trd automatic a few months back, and have loved the truck so far. However I did notice when I’m driving the truck and when the truck shifts into third anything’s past about 2k rpms the truck shift into 3 kinda hard. The truck has the A340f transmission, and I believe the 3rd gear is a 1.0 ratio, so I kinda thought maybe that’s just normal as that’s a direct ratio. But when I drive the truck easy it shifts into 3rd flawless and can barely tell it’s shift. After a lot of research I’m believing my 2-3rd gear accumulator piston o ring is bad, I believe this is the probably as when I drive easy the pressure should be lower and so transmission shifts fine, but the on the rpms the transmission has a lot of hydraulic pressure so the fluid is blowing past the o ring not allowing the accumulator piston to do its job. Hopefully that all made sense, so my question was does anyone else believe this is my problem, and how hard would it be to replace the accumulator piston, but hopefully it’s just the o ring?

    my 01 shifted smooth into 3rd. my fathers 02 is harsh. His also whines in first gear. mine did not.

    neither have ever acted up... It may also be the kickdown cable is a little too tight.. never messed with it.

    2002 and older have the cable. 2000 and older is 4runners. 03-04 are the only tacos without the cable

    I would argue that point

    The 95.5 was the first model Tacoma

    It will definitely have a type one valve body where as a 2002 has a type three valve body. Also the solenoids are likely very different. I’m not saying it won’t work , I would definitely consult an expert before tearing the old one out.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
    I have a 97 trans in my 02. Hasn't been a problem. Only thing I had to do is get a manual to electric vehicle speed sensor.
