Toyota accepting allocations/special orders again?

Rumor has it that the Toyota factory is accepting special allocations/special orders again. Can anyone on here kindly confirm? TIA!

Special order as in dealership/distributor contacts Toyota directly and request for your exact configuration.

 

Yes, ordered my 22 ORP on 11/26. Got the call 2 days ago that it is going into production on 2/3. At this point, the VIN was generated but the options i selected when i placed the order back in Nov were different (more generic). At this point the dealer was able to place a change order for the accessories I wanted added. Took about a half hour for the dealer to get confirmation back from Toyota accepting the add-ons. The dealer told me this happens with just about all customer orders they place. As soon as they get the VIN and the build date, you need to verify what is being built and make any changes before the build starts. Guess I’ll see what actually shows up in March.

 

There actually have been recent Toyota TV commercials saying they can Reserve vehicles being built for you.

 

Dang i have yet to see one Lol.

 

Moving back to a real live 'pick my own options' and it actually appear that way from the factory would be a massive change in their business model.

 

Yes, we are, in Ontario, Canada at least- a Toyota Employee.
