    GX550?

    It's a 3.4L TTV6.

If your in-laws weren't impressed by 349 HP and 479 LB/FT of torque, they're definitely not going to be impressed by 301 HP and 329 lb/ft of torque.

Test drove and put a deposit down for the GX550 last month. Significantly more low end power with a small bump in MPG, sure why not. Other than the unattractive V6 noise it drives like a V8. Don't plan on keeping it for decades so extra long term drivetrain reliability isn't a significant concern. My Tacoma on the other hand I plan on keeping it over 10 years so I'll happily sacrifice the lackluster MPG and power for the proven V6.

I’m struggling over the new Land Cruiser and the GX550 comparison. I like them both, prefer the land cruiser badge and pricing, but the 9k towing on the GX is nice.

The 2GR-FKS has shown decent reliability at best and proven to not be anywhere near as reliable as Toyota engines of old. There's nothing inherently more reliable about a modern complex V6 than a turbo I4.

The story behind that classic Johnny Cash photo is great. He was playing one of his famous prison gigs and a photographer yelled out to him, "hey Johnny, how about a picture for the Warden". And the rest is history as they say! :)

I hear all the time how guys are selling their Tacoma for top dollar then finding a pre-COVID level super-steal on their next rig.
I never seem to make money on anything I sell, and I need something reliable to drive to work, so I'll just keep what I have.

Jim Marshall was a bad ass photographer who was the most iconic music photographer in the 60's and 70's. His shots from Monterey Pop are legendary as is his 1971 cover photo of the ABB Live at the Filmore East, one of the classic album covers of all time. He was packing heat all the time and one of my closest friends went on a few dates with him. I never got to meet him, but as a music photographer, I have nothing but respect and admiration for him.

When I started looking for my 2023, I saw those ridiculous prices for used rigs, and opted to buy New.
I called three states and 12 dealerships until I found (almost) everything I wanted.
I had to settle for an automatic transmission, as the 6-speed manuals were literally unobtanium.
My new one went out the door at $37,900.

They didn’t have a new GX on lots yet up here to try them and the lx we tried with the 6 was a dog for $100k. The electric motor sounds horrible. It’s a turbo, you get no power down low. Every shifter we tried was the worst cluster to figure out. We tried the new RX to get a feel for the 4 turbo and that was ok, but honestly the best one IMHO. Power to weight is good there.

What’s racket these people are defending this $60,000+ trash. It’s how the engine feels not about the hp rating. It’s tuned for mpg and isn’t responsive.

I don't know about the turbo 6, but the 2.4T is making peak torque at 1700 RPM's. I would expect the 6 to be better, if anything. But, I haven't driven one, so I'm just going by specs.

I really wanted a 24 type R. I really wasn't ok paying $10k over. Bastards. I used to own a 2017 Si, so was going to settle for a 24 Si. These jerks would not budge on their markup AND they wanted 16% interest on the Si. They only had 1 on the lot.

Well they had 20 different EX 1.5t models. So I grabbed a 24 EX-L at msrp at 5% interest. I tuned the car and it rips now! Not as fast as a type R, but will def take an Si lol.

What I never saw before was them tacking on huge interest rates on the Si. Just because they only had 1 in stock. Like how is that legal to give me 2 different interest rates on different cars?

Ain't nothing illegal about it if the buyer agrees to it.

I’m not sure if it’s exactly the same as the tundra 6 turbo, but it was better than the 4 turbo in the Land Cruiser I tried. That makes no sense to me and is criminal.

I wish they had the 6 turbo option for the Tacoma to help towing. The only vehicle I enjoyed the 4 turbo in was the new RX350. Wife has a 2014, so we were curious. That platform makes sense there and it felt good. The new 4Runner looks great, but here we go with the 4 turbo again for only option.

The turbo 4 makes more torque than any previous Tacoma engine option, and at way lower RPM's. It should be much better for towing than any previous generation.

Same thing with the 4Runner, except that the 4th gen V8 had comparable power to the turbo 4. Otherwise, the 2.4T blows the doors off of any previous drivetrain.

I think a lot of people hear the word "turbo " and expect to have to rev the shit out of them to make power, which is completely untrue with the way these engines are designed. Additionally, it seems like some people expected it to be fast, which also isn't the case.

I drove a 4th gen back in March, and I thought it had really nice power throughout the midrange RPM's.
