“Built from the ground up for life off the grid, every truck bearing the Trailhunter compass will come straight from the factory with the durability, equipment and highly functional design you need to make the most of every day and night out on the trail. ”

That quote was from the Toyota USA Facebook post.

See https://pressroom.toyota.com/trailhunter-concept-previews-new-grade-of-toyota-trucks-at-sema-show/ for the press release.

I think it's marketing people throwing the word "factory" loosely there.
I'd love to believe that too if they really were from the true factory, such as Toyota Motor Manufacturer plants in San Antonio, Guanajuato, Indiana, etc.

One example is 4Runner. The TRD Pros shipped from factory in Japan in the form of a TRD Off-Road with steel wheels. Once they get to United States, port installers will then swap the suspension and wheels and add TRD Pro specific upgrades.

I like it but I bet MSRP will be astronomical and the white paint will still fall off after 2-3 years.

Read the press release, it's accessories that you can purchase through Toyota, or IOW. Toyota financial, will be happy to sponsor your overland build at a fixed APR. Not a bad thing if that's what the customer wants.

Maybe Toyota will sell a TH trim package that might be wired for lights, and the separate accessories that they recommend. Again, that's not a bad thing if that's what the customer wants.

They better hurry up if they want to make it for the 4Runner and Tacoma because both are supposedly undergoing a major redesign soon.

There's no way Toyota would do TH to the current gen Tacoma/4Runner just so they sell it for 1-2 model years

Well, there won’t be any legitimate aftermarket available for the next generations for at least 2 to 3 years. Maybe more if the economy continues on as it is. A bunch of the smaller aftermarket companies were pretty hard hit.

So I’m guessing they’ll just sell this crap for the Tundra and the Sequoia?

I wouldn't be surprised if we see this trim in the 24' Tacoma, which i would be willing to bet is still 3rd gen. Seems like a good opportunity to get some more factory parts thrown into the mix.

I know I am not a customer, to me the rack they chose looks like a 3rd grader made it with an erector set, it detracts for the looks of the truck.

Hopefully that’s not the production models vinyl wrap they go with and just a promo. It’s lazy.

Different strokes for different folks. Tundra's are butt ugly.

Eh... why pay thousands more for something that is fairly easy to do yourself? 90% of these "special additions" are fancy badges and stitching... so what... The other 10% is suspension that one can do with basic tools for far less.

Just my opinion, but if you are an able body man, do your own work and save thousands.

You can finance all of these bad decisions from the beginning. It’s much harder to finance all the one off RAPTOR light purchases and light bars after the fact.

If you have the time and skill that’s great. Some people don’t have one or both of those. I like this option and I like the warranty / resale of a stock truck.

we'll have to agree to wholly disagree  it's a mediocre offering to satisfy the non-enthusiasts, and I won't budge on that

It's surprising to me that Toyota took this long to do it.
