here is what i see for my vin

At the present time, Toyota is developing a remedy for this safety recall.
What is the Condition? Due to combination of the spiral cable design and characteristics unique to the chassis components of the Tacoma, steering wheel vibration ("flutter") may cause friction between the Flexible Flat Cable (FFC) and the retainer in the spiral cable assembly in the steering wheel. In FFC's with seven-channel circuits, friction over time may result in damage to certain circuits on the flat cable that provides connectivity to the driver's air bag module. If connectivity is lost, the air bag warning lamp will illuminate. In addition, the driver’s air bag may become deactivated, causing it to not deploy in the event of a crash. This could increase the risk of injury to the driver.
When will the Remedy be Available: Toyota anticipates that the remedy will be available in the near future. At which time, Toyota will notify owners of covered vehicles by first class mail. Additional information will be posted on this site once the remedy is available.

And they say procrastination doesn't pay!!!
I almost bought an after market clock spring to fix my 2006 airbag indicator light, and installed it myself ($300 versus Toyota's $700), I can imagine the fight I would have had trying to argue I wanted a new OEM part and repaying for my labour at their shop rate of $90/hr.
Will let everyone know how it goes when I take it in under an emergency situation with the light indicating (and as they told me when they did the diagnostic) that the airbag WILL NOT WORK!!!
Now if they acknowledge that the temp/compass unit is also faulty and I may never find my way home without one, that just leaves me with a faulty A/C unit to fix, and she's almost fully functional!!!

I was in the dealer yesterday and he said to just wait for the paper work as long as the light is not on.

That sucks to know I have a brand new vehicle and it has a fault already.

So the dealer told you the same fault is on the 2012's as well, or did he mean wait for them to mail you a letter stating your truck is on the airbag issue fix? If your light hasn't come on yet what are you worried about? When the light comes on, if it does, it shouldn't be a problem to fix as they are fixing older models.

My light has been on for a few months now. Just took it in today, and they said they won't have parts till September! From reading the last page, seems like I'm not alone. Is it worth trying another dealer? Seems like a big liability for Toyota.

I got the same iniital response until I pointed out the part that says if you have experienced the situation let your dealer know - they ordered in the parts and I had mine replaced on Monday! Ironic that the original quote included a $500 part and 2 hours of labour ($90/hr) - they were so pleased to call me in after 30 minutes to show me they had fixed the problem, and I was again safe (I doubt they would have lowered the quoted 2 hrs if it was on my bill).
My conern is that perhaps they just replaced the part with another that is subject to the wearing of the previous onw, and in 50,000 km I will see the little red guy again!
But, by all means let them know that in Canada they have done the work...
    Good luck...

I just bought a 2012 DC TRD a month ago and the "Airbag" Light has been on since day one?!?

The "Airbag" light is on all the time, but when there's a passenger on my truck, the "Passenger On" light(under the "Airbag" light) comes on as well. Can anyone tell me if that's normal?? It's hard for me to tell cause it's been been that way since day one.

The one by the radio is normal to be on when there is no passenger .

The one people are talking about here is in the gauge cluster

    You're fine
