I just found out my leaf spring on the left was broken, now tell me why would I have the same product installed that already failed? I'm going with an aftermarket that is a it beefier. If I ever get a recall on this, I'll just ask for compensation.

Hey fire, that's bs. If your springs are broken, dealer has to take your truck,& give you a loaner until the springs are fixed. Drive it in and don't take no for a answer.
Johnny, you can replace and be compensated. But it's my understanding the new leafs are a different material(batch) & they are 4 leaf.
Fyi, I spoke to Toyota corporate this week.
They have 750k trucks that need spring replacement.
They r doing broken first, reimbursements, then others in some kind of order.
Don't hold your breath. That's alot of springs for that manufacturer to make.

According to Toyota the above is incorrect.
It states some 2005-2011 models made between '09-'10.
In effect that would be trucks made for model year 2009 & some 2010 only.
Toyota has told me all 2005-2011 tacomas, that's 750,000!

I agree, I have already gotten the initial letter for my 2007 Pre-Runner Sport. If I recall there was something about whether the springs are mounted above the axle or below that determines which models are affected.

Whichever way easily allows a broken spring to slide over and contact the gas tank.

The axle location does not affect the distance from spring to tank. only from axle to tank, so ???

I don't know for sure, I just thought I remembered reading something to that affect. All I know is my 07 2WD Sport is covered, so you should probably check your VIN number on the Toyota site then make sure they have your correct contact info registered.

Update on the rust perforation on my frame. I received a call on May 12, 2015 to bring in my Tacoma to have the new frame installed. The service manager asked me if I would prefer a Camry or a Rav 4 loaner vehicle. I told him the Rav 4 as I have never driven one before. I went to the dealer and the gave me the keys to the loaner and took my Tacoma, stating that the frame change would be done in two days. I thought that he must be kidding but went along with it. On May 14 at about one thirty in the afternoon, I received a call that my truck was ready. I went for it about two hours later and lo and behold my truck had a new frame, rear springs, new brake lines, and a chain through the spare tire to catch it, if it ever tries to run away from the vehicle. The service manager proceeded to show me the old frame and some trucks in the middle of the frame change.I've only put about fifty miles on it so far and no problems. The total cost of the whole process was over $12,000. I am really surprised that they would spend that much to change a frame, but it is cheaper than a negligence lawsuit for not doing the repairs. I'll send more updates as I put some mileage on the truck. So, overall it wasn't a bad experience.

I was told those getting new frames get new leaf springs and the frames already done will get the second go around if they are not broken.

Every day, more spam from Toyota. E-mail, snail-mail, postcards, even messages on my answering machine. The reason I bought a Toyota is because I didn't want to have to trade it in every couple years. They've failed to motivate me with the mass spam campaign, while they've done a yeoman's job of convincing me to hate them for all the spam.

Mass marketing is for people that don't build the best. Is this where Toyota will wind up? "Also ran..."?

Put the effort into the product, Toyota. That'll motivate people.

Anything being said on the '06 brake system? My brakes are locking up and won't release unless I pull the booster check valve. I already pulled the 30 amp relay from the box to isolate the ABS, so I know it's definitely not an issue there. Plus, i had installed a new master cylinder after the old one took a dump. Anything? Anyone? Buehler?

Sounds like air isn't getting into the booster on release... I would check for a clog in whatever hose/filter there is on the fresh air side of the booster. Or at least, that's the first thing I would check on any random vacuum booster. Not really an expert on this newfangled stuff.
