My rear leaf spring recall letter finally arrived today. It states dealer will inspect and if necessary, replace. Hardly any rust at all under my 2007, so I doubt I'm getting new springs.

My '08 failed the inspection. Waiting on the parts to arrive. Could be waiting a couple of months.

Well, I'll eat my hat. I took my 07 Sport in yesterday for the spring inspection. The service guy asked right off the bat if didn't mind waiting a couple hours they would install the new spring kits. He didn't even look at anything except check the odometer, so I don't know if 112K automatically qualified or what, I didn't ask any question, only "that will be fine with me." He mentioned they had gotten a big shipment of the parts recently so sounds like they were eager to start using them.

So and hour and a half later I was driving out with new springs and I'm pretty sure there was no serious corrosion at all underneath my truck.

No corrosion here as well. Truck rides better with the new spring kit.

My 09 Taco got totaled and I bought a low mileage 2012 TRD Sport. It appears to have 4-leaf springs and they don't sag, so I assume the recall has been done. Is there a good way to know without trusting the dealer to know?

Also, do you folks know if there are there any issues specific to the 2012 model year?

This truck was supposed to be "Toyota Certified", and have all the updates, but that whole business is a joke IMO.

Thanks Jack. I did look up the recalls online.

But how do I tell if the springs on my 2012 were replaced or not?

Is their some special markings for the recall springs?

I'd call or visit the dealer... if you had any work done on the truck, they will know your VIN, ask the Service Adviser for the status on your truck's leaf springs. If no work done on the truck, give them the VIN. He'll be able to track it, easier than having you and me both crawl under the truck and look for a number...

The truck came new from Socal & I bought it used from a Norcal dealer. He claims "all the recalls were done" because it was "Toyota Certified".

But they didn't do them. I'd need to track down the socal dealer.

When are they going to man-up and take responsibility for the blood curdling wind noise that always catches off guard, like when you're trying to get some shut-eye on the frwy after long days work. This will not do!

Back in 2014 I finally gave in and replaced the clockspring spiral cable since the airbag light came on. The Cruise Control had been intermittent for well over a year or two before that. I had 2006 at the time, but my VIN number was not apart of the recall. I ended up forking over 1/2 the cost for the the part and labor after complaining to Toyota Corp. I no longer have the 2006 since it was totalled back in Nov. 2015.

The question is. Is it worth calling Toyota Corp. to see about getting the money I paid out for it? We are talking almost $300 for my half alone. Will they reimburse me, or will not?

I highly doubt I have the receipt, but I did have it done at a Toyota Dealership, so I'll have to call them and see if I can get info on it. I do know the date it was replaced though. So, that should help me.
