Wow. Don't have that feature, and glad. What if you have something in the way of the garage door, like a chair?

Ok. So i think the issues was that too many devices were linked to the old garage door opener. I programmed the taco, which knocked out the pin pad etc. I reprogrammed the pin pad and it knocked out the remote.

Garage door is from 93. Im going to clear all codes and do a redo. maybe theres a remote device limit and it’s knocking off devices triggering a door close on remote flake out. Wack.

Not sure on exact number but they (openers) do have a max. I’d guess at 10ish maybe less at that age. If your remote devices are getting knocked out and you only have truck, keyless, remote (even two) then I’d lean towards logic board failing… it’s 28 yrs old! How long do you expect it to last? And the codes are on a loop so the last (oldest) code gets replace by any new if it has maxed the limit.

alright just some things to think about so you can make best decisions for yourself/situation
-garage openers are an appliance and won’t last a lifetime (although older products for anything last longer than the new stuff, unfortunately it seems)
-lots of opener problems are caused by door problems (unknown or not), user error and could be poor installation.
-your flat screen breaks- what do you do? Repair or replace?
-how much money do you want to keep throwing into an end of life appliance?
-garage opener think dishwasher. It’s not needed to operate the door but is convenient and nice to have.
-you have a brand new truck and a near 30 opener
-GET A SURGE PROTECTOR FOR YOUR OPENER (no company/manufacturers, that I know, warranties the logic board)

the smart money is in replacing otherwise it can start to nickel and dime ya. IMO never get a genie (or a rebrand), liftmaster is the best professional grade, chamberlain is the little brother for you diyers (there are differences, how do you think they got the prices down? It’s the consumer grade and installation not included). They can get kinda expensive depending on options/features. WiFi is starting to come standard, there’s battery backups, integrated camera, add on cam, “dead bolt” locks, built in led lights etc. I personally prefer the jackshaft- better warranty, quietest, cleanest install (nothing on your ceiling)
