    I just found out my truck had remote start after most of winter is gone. Anyone else consider the amount of data Toyota collects to be alarming? The driver score thing is an absolute joke. I could see this being the future for how our insurance payments are structured. Just goes to show how auto makers are creeping more and more in to our privacy.

    So are you saying if I don't want all that information going to Toyota.. and then who knows who else... I can pull that fuse, but I essentially have to give up my phone mic?

    Seriously? Fast Acceleration? In a taco? What is the definition of "fast" I wonder? Going from 0-60 in 2.5 minutes? :rofl:

    Exactly. The mic, along with other ‘services’ such remote connect (notice how toyota does not call it ‘remote start’) and in car wifi runs through the DCM unit. It is located here (only on MY19 onward);

    Apparently with my harsh cornering and fast acceleration, I must of took it to the track? I raced a few senior citizens in a dodge caravan and lost :anonymous:

    I think I remembered there was something that plugged in to your ODBII port.

    That's awful I am sure there was some type of included "discount" to make it sound worth it.

    I declined it as soon as I realized what they were offering and before they were finished with the details.
    I'd prefer they continue assessing my risk the old fashioned way.

    Yep, I get a nice discount for using Allstate's version of the APP no need to use OBD. Trips can be eliminated as well on the app/I have over $100 credit with them.

    Soon enough it won't be a discount ... they will simply jack up rates on any other options, or just not offer coverage.

    I downloaded the app at first, but never went through the setup or used any of the features. I stopped at the first screen before accepting data sharing opt-in and didn't click any of it, but remote start from key fob works. I suspect they are using all my data anyway even though I didn't give consent.

    Next time, they will just sell the exact same thing this way ' "You quote is $_____ and it looks like your vehicle has the ability to download data to our site. That rate is contingent on us receiving that data, otherwise, we will have to raise the rate to $_____".

    Most people will accept not getting a "discount", but will refuse to accept a rate "increase" even if is the exact same thing.

    yea, i disabled that. not sure why you'd voluntarily enable this feature.

    it's called "insure connect".

    "By sharing your vehicle driving data with a Toyota insurance affiliate, we'll evaluate your driving habits to see if you are qualified to be offered a personalized insurance product. Available in all states with the exception of Ak, CA, HI and NY."
