I'm looking to buy a rear-view mirror with auto-dim, compass and Homelink system. My 2006 Tacoma does not have one and am curious if the overhead consol (mine is set up for a garage door controller)has a plug/wiring harness to "power" a Gentex Mirror? I have read on this forum that GENTEX is the OEM for Toyota.

That looks more like a cut and splice option versus a plug and play

I'm not sure about any plug and play, as I have a 4x4 base. But if I were going to put an autodimer in thats how I would do it. Its super easy and cheap, if you use those wire taps just splice switched power to light green wire, and ground to black stripe/white wire.......

I just had the GENTEX 51a rear view mirror installed. The Mirror has a compass, OAT, and Homelink system. Everything worked and it cost only 40 bucks to have it installed. The installer had to run electrical from the overhead console and run the Temp Sensor cable from the mirror out to the front bumper. Took him about an hour.
