Moving forward! Seems like an EV Tacoma is getting closer to fruition... I think 2024 or 2025 for the next gen Tacoma, EV and hybrid/turbo hybrid.

    https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota...-the-u-s-with-10-year-3-4-billion-investment/

And YES Toyota DOES have the most EV's on the planet and most plug in vehicles.

And no, Toyota does not have the most EV’s o. the planet. In fact at least i’m the US there are no pure EV Toyota’s yet. Toyota does have a lot of hybrids, of which only 2 models are plug in hybrids as of last year anyway. Most of the hybrids can go only 40-50 miles on electric only.

They are considered EV's and DO run on batteries. Their own statistic is clear. Also the only EV they have in the US is MIRAI Fuel Cell EV.

look at your own post of Toyota information. a hybrid EV is an HEV, a plug is a PHEV.
Toyota is actually late to the party in producing battery EVs. When people talk about an EV they mean a battery EV. If it’s a hybrid they say hybrid.

The EV in 'HEV' and 'PHEV' stands for Electrified vehicle. They have sold almost 19 million worldwide since 1997, 4.5 in the US alone.

Yes it does. And they are called HEV and PHEV, not EV.

You guys are splitting hairs here. Most vehicles that run on a battery, even if it still has a gas engine, qualifies for Federal EV Tax Credits. RAV Hybrid, Prius, et al. The bigger the battery capacity the bigger the credit.

Well i get what you're saying. They are both a gas and electric vehicle. A hybrid.

I think eventually you will be correct. As true EV's become more popular and available that FED credit will only apply to them. For now though, they all qualify for the standard. lol

Yeah I guess I look at it as if someone sells me an “electric vehicle” and I discover an engine in it I’m gonna say “that liar sold me a hybrid!” To which dozens of TW members will say “didn’t you test drive it first???” :D

For some reason I will trust a Toyota BEV more so than other established car companies like Ford, Hyundai, VW. But I do like the look of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Looks very cool. GM can't seem to keep their cars from bursting into flames. How GM screwed up an electric car is baffling.

    Wouldn't you like to know!
Screw that...I have a friend who had their Hyundai burn up outside the house and then the next one they bought was recalled for the same thing. Now they drive a Rav4 Hybrid
