Does this look like new oil?
Looks awfully brown for 5k service to me.
Paperwork from dealership reads 5k synthetic service.
Oil cap doesn't look touched (no fingerprints).

I think some tech got your oil for his vehicle and paid for changing yours.

Or someone marked the paperwork wrong trying to make you happy. Because 1st change is slated for 10k.

Haha oil change thief. Dang didn't realize 5k was rotate only.
Are most people changing oil before 10k for their first time oil change?

I changed mine a few days ago at 5k and some change. 6 qts of mobile 1 full synthetic. The oil I drained was kind of dark compared to the new one and this is just on the 1st 5k miles on he truck. Going to change it every 5 to 7k. No a fan of the oil filter style i must say.

The "5k Synthetic Vehicle Service" means they are servicing a vehicle that takes synthetic oil, not that they changed the oil. 10k is the regular oil change interval.

Color means absolutely nothing with Synthetics. 10K is normal oil change interval.

I specifically asked for mine to be changed at 5K, partially because I see a fair amount of dirt roads.

So I used up my free ones early, and will change myself from now on.

Dealership didn’t change my wife’s RAV4 at 20k. I always inspect everything before I leave.... still dust on the cap and oil looked old, not the clean oil look that it should have been. However they did tell me the cabin air filter needed replacing when I just did that a day prior... I learned then that ToyotaCare is crap. Went home and changed it myself and will never go to that dealer again.

Not that color means everything/anything, but I think that looks pretty dang clean for 5k miles!

Dealerships can be bad and quick change places are worse. I always wrote the mileage on my wife's Subaru filter with a silver tip sharpie. One of those places that let you watch changed her oil. They definitely drained the oil and put new in, but when I got home to write the new mileage on the filter, it still had my writing on it from the last change. I've always done it myself ever since.

I learned the other day that the oil changes were every 10k. Not sure how I feel about it. Yes I know synthetics are better but just feels funny. Ill likely change mine more often. Wife works for a automotive parts company and discount is good.

Yeah even though its synthetic I can't see my self doing it after 7k. Just seems to much. Also got 6 oem genuine Toyota filters on Amazon for 20 bucks. Exact part number and everything

Toyota changed my oil at 20k, I just changed it at 25k and broke a socket wrench trying to get the filter housing off. How Toyota put it on so tight without the plastic cracking is a mystery to me. Sometimes a free oil change is NOT worth the price.

They get tight on their own via heat expansion. Probably going to be like that each time regardless of who changes it.

Don't trust stealerships. I caught them lying twice, once about rotating and the other about checking the air. Also the managed to scratch the shit out of my inner fender during the 60K service. Drop a bolt inside the vents when they replaced the radio (And it's still there, you can hear it roll when you turn), and I can go on and on. I called Toyota and asked them if they had a competent dealership with experienced mechanics to take care of my truck, Their response was "All our dealerships are trained and experienced", I told them that they should do some research if they really care.
With that said, You can get all the needed info in this forum to do your own services.
