Starting for the 2016 models, it's oil change every 10k or 12 months. So that's only two oil changes.

Get some Mobil 1 from Wal-Mart or wherever else it's cheap and go to Mobil Website to get a $12 Rebate.

My dealership did it under Toyota care at 5k and 10k because I wanted to change the first two early (probably not needed, but I wanted to anyway) on my wife's Rav4. There's always a cool dealership and one that's probably not good. Use this as your gauge to see where you should go in the future when you need to be taken care of on something more important.

Nice I’ve bought some 0W20 PUP from summit racing, it a bit more than Mobil 1, but who cares it’s still cheaper than the beer I drink.

The way I look at it is, I paid 30k+ for the truck, I'm retired and only stealership in town is 15 min away, so I will take it in for any and all Free service they give so they have to pay their techs an hours pay to rotate tires or whatever, after the freebies I'll do it myself. Plus I give the shuttle driver a job to take to Walmart and pick me up.....they like guy's that don't come in for the freebies, more money in their pocket! Plus if they F*** anything up then they gotta pay to fix it....if you buy a new fridge or something and it makes noises I'm sure you call the repair guy for free warranty service right? Well I'm not trying to be a dick but hey free is free, I got more time than money so I'll wait for the free suff!! IMHO...

I used a silver tipped sharpie and marked the inside of my wife's valve stem covers on a previous car to see which way they rotated her tires, they were all in the exact same spot. I've also written the mileage on one of her oil filters, opened the cover, my hand writing still on the same filter. I always check the dealerships work. Even the good ones.

Toyota says 10k because of the new synthetic oil used. I don't care what they say and I am probably to anal. But I changed my oil at 1k and 5K myself. I am not going 10k on oil. I plan on keeping this truck for the rest of my life.
Now if I were trading every year or so I would not care.

While it is a lie about voiding your warranty, it does have value in getting the service done that it will show up on Carfax when you get ready to sell or trade. As much as we realize the nonsense that is the dealer, there are a lot of people that put value in a dealer maintained vehicle.
