Guess going against the Environmentalist and EV gods gets you replaced. Don’t speak bad about EVs or else.

He's old, and he's staying on the board. This is a nothingburger.

He’s staying to save face but the next generation is to make them a mobility company NOT a car company. That’s a big deal for car people. And with how authoritarian governments are becoming, they are not happy to just leave us alone. They will make sure you can’t have your “old school” truck or car.

I dont think Toyota gives a shit about "car guys". If they did they would not be so boring. They give a shit about shareholders and stock prices.

Not a conspiracy those were his words not mine. Governments are already making rules on ICE cars. It’s just a matter of time and the speed of regulations have increased mightily.

Ding ding ding, you cracked the secret code.

Turns out Toyota's business model has always been to build highly reliable, (relatively) efficient cars and trucks and maintain brand loyalty through longevity. And it works extremely well.

I mean, if it takes Toyota until 2020 to starting putting in a driver's side power seat in the Tacoma, you know that's gonna be the best researched and longest lasting powered drivers seat in the industry lol

I'd rather wait for a well engineered EV than a rushed one. A conspiracy it is not though. Just business.

Toyota went hard early on on Hydrogen Fuel Cell tech. EV's are the winning "marketable" item right now, so it's logical Toyota will pivot that direction. They'll just do it the Toyota way, cautiously and boringly.

I would love to see Hydrogen Cells get some more tech money into R&D. In my humble opinion, that's the way to go. Nobody from the C-suite has asked me though.
