Before EVs showed up the only choices you had were various manufacturers that all burned either gasoline or diesel. The oil industry was "shoving it down your throat" but you didn't even notice or care. Now everything is a conspiracy all of a sudden

We've been running gas engines for over 100 years. It's going to take time for some people to adjust. I for one hate full ev. Hybrids I can understand the appeal though.

The bottom line is that he got canned because he's got too much common sense and that makes him a liability to TOYOTA

I covered this in the first comment to this nonsensical post. He's old, and he's still staying on the board of directors. There's not some sort of ulterior agenda involved with any of this.

He’s stepping down because when they release the 4G Taco it’s all over.

In b4 the :locked: but I will say that he ain’t wrong. EV’s are not the answer. I think we should have nuclear powered cars :D

I remember when people were making fun of Toyota and people who drove a Prius. I don't have a problem with EVs. I even considered buying one before I purchased my Tacoma.
My biggest issue is we don't have the infrastructure (charging stations) in place yet and I think most EVs are ugly. Why don't manufacturers take an existing vehicle and slap some batteries in them?

Vehicles achieved perfection with the 1979 F150 with the 351m and T-7 transmission. Airbags and fuel economy are for pussies.

You might not like it, but this is what peak vehicle performance looks like

Wait, I thought the country was in a drought? At least until winter thaws out anyway.

Jay Leno's got an assortment of gas, diesel, electric, and hydrogen/steam vehicles. Some of the hydrogen/steam and electric were around before some of the gas and diesel versions. Check out his YouTube channel Jay Leno's Garage, interesting stuff.

Given the current limitations of battery capacity/weight designing for efficiency is a huge factor. The R1T looks a bit fucky but has a coefficient of drag of .30. The conventional looking F150 has a Cd of .44 because it is basically just an F150 with a power train swap.

Wouldn't cars like a Corolla or Camry be perfect for EV models?

I wonder how much fossil fuel it takes to dig up all the stuff needed to build the batteries?? If we are already told not to run our air conditioners due to power shortages and grid limitations... how will we ever be able to power all these vehicles?? So now, we are going to pollute the ground disposing of the batteries every few years at immense costs, rather than pollute the air??

I'm an electrician, about as pro electric as one can get, but EV vehicles to replace fossil fueled ones?? You are kidding right??

I wonder if they'll be a junkyard/scrapyard for old EV's. What about the old used batteries? Do we throw those in the dump? What about current the child labor that's used to mine the lithium and cobalt for the EV batteries? :poking:

Better than trucks but that’s pretty much unavoidable if you want ground clearance, towing ability, etc. The R1T at a .30 is actually quite good, beating some sedans in fact.

Good thing the batteries don’t need to be disposed every few years then. There are definite issues and downsides to EVs but at least use facts when making arguments.
