Looks like aftermarket (Bushwacker?) flares that were painted to match the truck. Looks pretty bad, too.

I think you are right. Real Bushwackers don't look that bad.

I think they used a cheaper version of the bushwhackers but are charging more then the bushwhackers.

I'm about 100% positive those are EGR Flares and not Bushwacher.

If they are "port installed" by southeast toyota like I mentioned, then they will be at multiple dealers, but still aren't Toyota OEM.

The Factory black ones look good. Why would anyone prefer these ugly ones over factory?

Ahh... never heard of that one. Not a fan of either honestly. I had bushwhackers on my taco, and since the "beauty bolts" don't actually secure to top of the flare to the fender, they rattled off road.

I beg to differ. Then again I don't know what they are actually charging for something like this. I know it is an inflated price

Seriously....these threads are always the same. Someone finds a dealer modded Taco....a lift, wheels, etc., etc and everyone else piles on and bags on it and talks about how the dealership is fucking people. Dealerships are for-profit businesses. They do what generates attention and money just like every other buisness on Earth. They do these types of things because it works.

Frankly. I see this type of thing way more often with the local Ford and Jeep dealers than I do the Toyota dealerships. They usually have enough modded F150s and Jeeps to make any respectable tribal tatoo on his bicep, Tap-Out t-shirt wearing bro jizz his pants.

Bag on these vehicles all you want and scream stealership every time. But every one of those vehicles will find a proud owner who's pumped about having it in their driveway. Dealerships are filling a need. Not fucking people.

    Well stated.

Another thing to keep in mind is that a lot of these dealer modded Tacos aren't so much for the sale of that modded taco. What they are there to do is catch eyes and drive traffic. It gets people on the showroom floor who might not have shopped otherwise. This is also why the ask is generally pretty high- they don't necessarily WANT to move that particular unit, they just want it to be their conversation starter.

It also grooms a customer's expectations, when they see $47,000 (or whatever) they think "shit I can't afford that..." but hey here comes Mr. Dealer Man who says "naaah let's look at a TRD OR out on the lot, I've got this lovely quicksand out here for $35,000, it's basically the same thing!" Suddenly the customer is thinking "WOW that's over $10K less and it's basically the same truck!! Neato!!" and you've psychologically deflected a huge part of the "sticker shock" phenomenon.

If you don't think dealers try to carefully manicure the average customer's experience from the moment they drive into the parking lot till they sit in the finance office and sign the papers, I've got news for you...

And yeah, when the model year is wrapping up, one day some bro comes in and gets his winkie rock hard over the dealer modded one and just HAS to have it so they "make him a deal" and knock $1,000 off the ask and he walks away with a sated boner.

Never thought about it like that. Very Interesting. Of course this was port installed, and some of these dealers have multiple trucks like this. Back when I first went to buy back in early 2016 the first dealership I went to had two lifted tacos on terrible 20inch ugly wheels, and only one taco that wasn't. That was their only 3 they had, of course that was back when everyone was ordering anyway
