He/she probably update when the whole ordeal is over. I’d be upset if I was charged 5000 for something done to my truck that is about 20 years old.

Even though it's been months, I still feel very unfulfilled there's never been an update to this story.

That's probably the case.. That lawyers told him to let them do all the talking.. Or Toyota asked him to shut up of he wanted help.

Unless they went into specific details like name of dealership, etc. I couldn't see there being any kind NDA or restriction that would prevent them from giving a basic update on an anonymous message board.

If it was me I would have asked to look over my truck and while we was looking it over and cranking it up to see that everything was working I would have jumped in the drivers seat and rolled the fuck out.Let them figure out a legal way to make me pay for something I didn’t sign or request done to my truck.Sounds like the OP is getting absolutely dicked.I would get my shit or get arrested one or the other

The OP joined TW in 2017 and has only posted in the thread he started and one other post in another thread about frame rust. I suspect that his "situation" was probably worked out, most likely in his favor and since it has been resolved, he does not visit TW any longer and probably feels no obligation to update the thread he started with a final result. If he did not agree with the final determination then most likely he would have posted something here. In my time spent working at a dealership the behavior of the dealer in this instance is not uncommon. There is nothing to lose by playing hardball and trying to get the customer to pay for a mistake the dealer has made. Worst case scenario is that the dealership will end up paying anyways if the customer balks. If the customer agrees to part of all of the charges then the dealership has saved some money. Often customers do not even know a mistake has been made. They may be charged for parts that were needed because of faulty work or told that more repairs were needed, even when they were not. The invoice is a confusing mess to most customers and some dealerships take advantage of that.

Well he/she needs to damnit! Can't put us all through a rollercoaster like that just to leave us hanging - I was seriously invested into that story lol. Nothing more satisfying than customers getting to stick it to shady dealers.
