Well if your like me and camp a lot, you should know tricks for keeping rodents and squirrels away. You wouldn’t believe how many cars I see come in with signs of rodents in the engine bay and never experience wire damage. But every now and then they go for them. You have to be proactive, don’t just throw a bitch fit afterwards

My cat has a bad habit of sleeping on the Underhood Fuse box, I have to open the hood before I go anywhere if I don't see her around.

It isn’t just Toyotas. I sold our beautiful RV in September after the mice and rats won. They were destroying the wiring. No one was able to keep them out in our RV resort in eastern Oklahoma. We are building a cabin in its place.

One of our friends left last week for Florida and was motioned to stop while traveling on I 40 in West Memphis. His largest slide in his fifth wheel was about 3/4 extended. He repaired wiring before leaving but failed to see where the rodents had chewed into his hydraulic lines.

We raise our hoods at night. Some will throw a light under their vehicles.

You are right, I put cayenne powder all over mine when we camp, but why should we have to do that? The manufacturer put in edible insulation into a vehicle designed to go where rats naturally live! We might as be driving cheese mobiles off-roading, or real hot dog trucks through ferral dog infested cities! :)

This is as bad as the Cow Licking incident at my work. My boss and a coworker parked their rented 4-runner in a field while doing surveys. When they returned it was surrounded by cows who had licked the paint down to bare metal. Edible paint? Toyota needs to do better environmental testing of their vehicles.

You could try some double sided tape on the box, most cats don’t like that on their paws. I know someone that put double sided tape on their couch to keep the critters off, lol.

When I worked at a Honda dealer we had a customer go through 3 fuel tank harness's due to rodents chewing the wires. The second time the repair was completed with that rodent tape. Chewed right through that & the wires. Rodents give no ***** lol.

That’s a small moose, don’t they come big enough to drive under?

Yeah... and that's what you do not want to do.... Driving "under" a moose kills you, as he/she is now in your face..!!

Most cars that hit a moose takes out their legs and the moose ends up through the windshield and "in your face"...!

My neighbour...across the street hit one with his Dodge mini van and got a face full of moose..... He's still not back to where he was before... IE: brain damage....!! The moose ended up in the back seat with their dog....

At least a truck will give you a better chance cuz it's taller..... Moose have very long legs..!

Kinda scary- moose in face. Our ferral burros tend to do that too. I wonder what’s best - basic front end with impact absorbing sheet metal or hard bumper bars that may push it up and over the hood?
