Zero and, I mean zero issues with mine at 6k. I've tried to find and replicate the issues others are having and mine just doest have them. I don't care for the seats or how the tranny shifts, but those are not reason enough to be dissatisfied or sell it.

I suspect that Toyota has corrected a lot of manufacturing issues suffered by the early adopters.

Got an Offer from my dealership for a buy back, losing a little, but I'm going to take it and run.

Bought mine in October and haven't had a single problem. Guess I'm just lucky...either that or this forum is magnifying issues that actually aren't that wide spread.

I have also tried to replicate all of the issues as well, and mine also does not have them. My seat is okay because I have short legs, and I have gotten used to it. The Transmission still shifts like crazy when using the cruise, and trying to maintain 75 mph on posted highways is a HUGE struggle for the Taco, as the power range is not there in 6th gear or sometimes even in 5th. It still struggles even when in 5th gear if there is a head wind or an incline like an overpass. I just lowered my speed to 70 mph, and learned to live with people passing me; I get better mileage, and the crazy shifting is NOT there, and my STRESS level is gone; if I need to pass I have PLENTY of power if I need it.

With that said; I still LOVE my Taco. Why? Because I have had Fords, Chevys, GMCs etc. Toyota has a dependability reputation ... period! My Ford Explorer 2002 had 3 rear ends, 2 transmissions, 3 air conditioners etc. I am hoping my Taco stands up to its reputation of being a solid truck. I have had ZERO problems; except poor fuel mileage at 16 mpg and the transmission and cruise issue. It's a TRUCK; I am okay with it.

Also; I looked at a 2016 GMC 1500 with a 5.3 Liter. I considered it for about a minute, and then found on fuelly.com, it gets about 14 mpg, and I looked at the shock mounts on it, and there was literally only 6 inches of clearance from the bottom of the shock mount to the ground. I was at the County Fair, and YES I actually DID have a tape measure with me. If I had that GMC, it may look nice, but it would be STUCK and hung UP EASILY on some of the places I have taken my TACO.

Sorry for those having problems with their TACO, but at the end of March 2016 over 45,000 Tacos were built, and I have NOT seen any statistics showing a HUGE RECALL on any of them.

I am in it for the LONG RUN, not the short one that makes me feel better right now. I need DEPENDABILITY.

Those having issues; EVERYTHING you purchase nowadays regardless of what it is has thrown quality control out the window. If your TACO is broken, then hopefully warranty and or some new parts will fix you up!

Rice Toyota's service department is only marginally (and I'm probably being generous here) better than Vann York's.

Paid them $80 for an alignment on my Corolla last year. Got home, and checked my printout. It said the SAI was out of spec. Exact same numbers before and after the "alignment". I know...shame on me for not looking at it before I drove off the lot. I just assumed all was good since nothing was said to me. Took it to a Quality Tire, and got it fixed for $50.

Twenty years ago, I took my Jetta to Vann York collision center, because they were "certified" by my (then) insurance company. When I got my car back, it was out of alignment and they didn't replace the accumulator for the A/C. Almost took an act of congress to get it right. Ever since then, I don't even like driving by Vann York.

Long story.. he is a prick with a hatred for and disgust of law enforcement.

Sorry your issue is dangerous. I had that once, due to other issues. Makes driving feel like Russian roulette.
