Just curious if anyone here has actually successfully been through a Toyota Buy Back Case?
    Short story;
I have a vibration on my 2016 Tacoma SR5 Double Cab 4x4 when braking and a "buzzing" in the steering wheel while accelerating at highway speeds, took it back to the dealer 4 times, they deemed it a "characteristic of the vehicle". Got Toyota Corp involved and got them to open a "Buy Back Case/Claim". They sent the regional expert, and he said that there is nothing uncharacteristic of the vehicle.
Just sent out the paperwork they requested. Now I have to wait up to 30 days to see if they deem my Tacoma "qualified" or "Not Qualified".
    Anyone gone through this process?

I was started down that road with the same issue you have, and some other stuff, but we ended up calling it good for now with a refund of my 1st payment and a free Toyo Care Platinum 100k/7yr. Tech's are still driving and investigating everything, so with all the complaints, I'd say there will be a fix. May have to wait a long time, but I think someone will find the cause because they just can't keep handing out free money.

There is just so many different things it could be...trans, engine mounts, brakes, front diff sheer, out of spec driveshaft angles, unbalanced driveshaft, just so many things. With my case, I really do think they are trying to figure it out, just sucks they can't.

Good luck with your situation. I totally get how you feel.

ARE cap, wade inchannel vent visors, weathertec floor mats, ranch hand grill guard, tuffy security boxes in bed, lockable tailgate handle. Still have stuff that needs to be installed and still have stuff ordered lol.
im guessing but i'd start looking at vibration while braking sounds like maybe calipers or rotors area or abs most likely something to do with abs, buzzing in steering column i'd have to hear the buzzing, i used to trouble shot stuff when i worked at shop and thats how i would start trouble shooting. mechanics at dealers nowadays only know txt book stuff ive seen so far around here.
thats why i trouble shot my trucks than take it to the dealer and tell them whats wrong with it and what they need to do to repair it lol

Not saying what you're experiencing isn't annoying, but I doubt it comes close to warranting any kind of buy back. If it doesn't warrant a recall (tbd) then I'm guessing it doesn't warrant a buy back.

I called corporate and they had me take it to the dealer for the buzzing. The tech had it in the shop for about 20mins when I saw him pull around a BRAND new TRD Sport and came in and told me to drive it. We both drove it and it did the SAME thing. The dealer just sent me home cause they had no idea where to even start looking. I had them google it and they saw all the chatter on line about the buzz. They said with all this negative stuff from '16 owners, Toyota should put out terminal service bulletin on how to fix it soon. Corporate called me a few days after my appointment and said the buzz was just a normal characteristic of the new '16 Tacomas, and they had no plans to address it. I was not happy about that... SO, a new F-150 is now in my garage.... Ah well... GOOD LOUCK with your ordeal, btw...

Manufactures only do buy backs in extreme cases. Extensive repairs or significant repairs done to the vehicle and it's been in the shop for a long time or multiple times and the problem still exists. I've worked in dealerships for 8 years now and I could probably count on 1 hand how many times I've heard or seen a buy back from our dealerships. Especially over an issue they are claiming a "normal" characteristic. Best of luck though, perhaps you'll get lucky

I highly doubt you'll get a buyback on a "normal" characteristic.

I would just go to Ford and trade in as is, cut my loss and not look back at Toyota. Toyota dropped the ball big time on a couple issues but the REAL problem is all of the people that can't get past toyota's history. So a bunch of people drink the kool aid and think it's toyota, nothing could possibly be wrong and the sales numbers skyrocket. People need to realize that these are unacceptable issues popping up and make a fuss about it to corporate. Toyota also needs to survey dealers and not just rely on call ins to their HQ.

    Anyways, good luck.

Ford bought back my 2013 Escape because of a fire hazard and that's how I ended up with a Taco.....

Fire hazard is a bit bigger of an issue than a buzzing in the steering

Yes I understand that but it was the extreme case I was putting out there it was over heating, water pump replacement, thermostat housing, cooling lines, radiator, inter cooler, heater core, head replacement and a host of other things tossed at the fix......It was better they bought it back all this with less than 8,000 miles....

I don't think any caught fire from a cracked head and oil leaking on the exhaust but it was worth pushing the issue as a possibility and causing potential death.....

I had to make my case and I did they bought it back 23 pages of reason for them to buy it back........

Toyota has been making vehicles long enough for them to just say "it's characteristics of the truck" I would call bullshit as well there is obviously something wrong....

I have called BS, but exhausted my resources at the Dealership level. Now it's in Corporate's hands
