The first "new" vehicle I bought - traded in a '73 Subaru Coupe that my wife had when we got married. A 1976 Subaru 4WD Wagon - the first year they offered on the fly 4WD.

SInce then we've owned 8 other Subarus including an '83 Brat and an '03 Baja.

Lynn is currently driving a 2019 Outback and I bought this green machine in 2020. I just love the color green, I guess.

Subaru FTW! My girlfriend is now on her second forester. And I myself have owned two wrx's. Im with you; if they made a good looking truck I would buy.

Also best cars in the snow.

I recently purchased a 2021 Rav4 xle premium. Part that took the longest was deciding which color and the test drive. With all the cross traffic sensors , pedestrian sensors , blind spot monitoring, collision avoidance , radar controlled cruise control , lane stabilization and such , i did purchase the extended mechanical warranty. We intend for this to be the last car we buy , and if one of those systems goes out without warranty it could be thousands of dollars. And we can always cancel it if we change our minds. We didn't finance either.

It is totally a dealer practice, and has nothing to do with corporate. When I bought my Tacoma, it was in and out with only the first quote containing the Toyota Gap coverage and an extended service plan. I said I didn't want either of those, and never heard or saw another thing from the salesman or finance guy.

This past weekend, my wife bought a new Mazda CX-30 and same thing. They put out some feelers about extra things like that, but after we said we weren't interested, they were never brought up again.

Same here... We drove the wife's 06' Forester to the dealer to pick up the new one and I had 2-3 other salesmen wanting to know if we were trading the old one in. They seemed disappointed we weren't. Around here (NE WA. state) Toyota's & Subaru's hold their value insanely well.

When i picked up my tacoma...(much of the ordering work was done previously months ago over the phone, and fax). Upon arrival i was immediately sat down in the fiancee office, or whatever else this guy is called. Then out came all the extended warranty programs that he explained for the next 20 minutes, or so while getting nowhere. Told him again i was here to picked up truck...heres my check get on with it. Then out came all the paperwork to sign....lot, and lots of it. Finally the original salesman i spoke with over the phone comes over, and shows me my truck, and all the gadgets, but doesn't explain very well how they operate. Well i asked him a few things, and he really didn't know for sure himself, but if i wanted to wait awhile for his sales manager, he'd take care of it. Told him i'll figure it out, and be on my way. At least they sent me off with a full tank of gas. All i can say is glad i had a phone and a fax initially, or i'd be there all week.

Ordered truck, less than two weeks later it arrived. Sales guy called to say my 2021 had just arrived on the carrier (at 10:43am). I asked when it might be available, he told me to head on down.

Traded in my 2020 Camry and was heading out of the dealership at 1:15pm, and that was with haggling my trade in price. No haggle on the ex warranty as I told the finance guy I did not want it, he never mentioned it again.

    Not too shabby...

Had both my neighbors owning subaru cars, both with expensive engine failures once they got over 5 years old. Another neighbor has had them forever, but trades up every couple years..i'm thinking they lease.

do you not know the difference between an agent for Toyota (dealer) and Toyota proper?
My Toyota dealer never even mentions that shit.

Or it could the other way around?

My toyota experience was clear and cut when I purchased my '18 Taco and' 19 Rav4.

Of course... It does depend on the "stealer-ship" and how pushy they are with sales.

My Tacoma purchase was easy. They tried to sell me warranty. I just said, “No.” Easy.

My niece just won a brand new Subaru, though.

Lol this is the dealership in Escondido right? it's about 10 mins from my house. Always nice to look at

Having not bought my truck from Toyota, I can't say what their selling model is like. But when I bought my Subaru, nearly every dealership i went to was difficult to work with except the one I ended up buying from.

Anything from saying no to test drives, or requesting I have a co-signor before even applying for their financing. Trying to upsell me on coatings, warranty, maintenance packages, etc.

Should have negotiated free brake light replacements. About 8/10 new Subaru's are running around with them out/malfunctioning. There's a shit ton of them here in Colorado with bulbs out. Seriously, start trying to notice them its ridiculous. Also, should have negotiated a free quart of oil per month because of their "oil consumption" fiasco. Real great for the environment. But hey, sappy commercials mean they care!

I bought a new Subaru Forrester in 2013 here in Ohio and got burned every which way with it. The dealer didn't have the color we wanted but located one in Michigan for us. When it was delivered my wife was all excited and went up to get it before I got home from work. When I got home I about fell over when I saw all the dings in the back of it and she didn't. While in Michigan the car had been blasted with gravel from somebody spinning the tires in it or something along those lines. The dealership in Michigan did a half ass repaint complete with tape lines and unrepaired dings. I immediately took it back but the dealership said you bought it you own it. I brought the car back home and parked it and never drove it while we took legal action against Subaru and the dealerships. In the end we won and was given another car after about 3 months of going back and forth.
The new Forrester was only with us about 6 months after my wife spun out in it when the antilock brakes seized up on it on a wet road when she was slowing down. It tried to do it again with me when I took it over. The dealership told us we apparently did not know how to drive and claimed nothing was wrong with the Forrester. We ditched it and got my wife a Sienna. As far as I am concerned Subaru sucks. I know it was mostly dealership related issues but corporate did not intervine until we started legal action. We never felt the love as they put it in their ads. We are still driving that Sienna.
