Toyota cutting production

Announced this morning (yesterday?), cutting production by 40% for a month due to chip shortage.

I guess my 2019 just became my retirement plan.

Whatever the used market is, it just got hotter.

 

My 2019 is just part of my retirement plan, when I retire my truck will still be with me.

I have seriously been thinking about this. I can pocket about 14k on my truck after pay off….

 

a friend of mine had a 2017 sport and the dealer just offered him 5k more than what he paid for it new...maybe time to sell it outright...lol

There's more than a few people out there that have recency bias and think this will go on forever.

I'm a doom and gloomer, but there's something not right with near daily trillion dollar repos, a government that can't rein in spending, an absent workforce, meme stocks and buttcoins, ZIRP, unemployment claims above 300k plus for a year and half etc...

If you don't need a nice newer vehicle it might be the best time to sell.

 

This is pretty significant news. If you thought car prices were crazy before, this will certainly trigger things the next level.

Every manufacturer has done this to some degree due to the chip shortage. I don't believe this was the first time Toyota did it either.

 

I don't think they were cutting Tacoma production though.

I traded. I made over $10K versus last year. I got $2K more than I paid for it 3 years and 45K miles ago. I win.

 

A very good bud of mine just got his ’12 Tacoma totaled by a young girl driving too fast in the rain. The Insurance Co. gave him a $10k payout on his fully paid for truck. Now he can’t replace it for anything near his running like new truck. Take the win and stay safe out there

 

That sucks to hear, 10 grand definitely would not get him into another Tacoma unless it is a shitbox.
