On my brand new 2025 Tacoma TRD Sport that came with an OEM Toyota Dashcam, it's not saving any events (files) ?

Yesterday I went back to the dealership and three different salesmen tried for over an hour to get it working, but to no avail? Any ideas? They swapped micro card, formatted them, changed settings, reinstalled the software Toyota Dashcam Viewer software from App store (on iPhone 14) etc ... It's connects fine (Carplay is turned off) and you can view Live View, that works fine, but when your Browse to see it's saved files, there are none.

Any help much appreciated, they ended up saving I need to create a service appt... but I was hoping to not have to do that, I just got my new Tacoma... I have read all of the manuals end to end (that took a day) and watched lots of youtube vids related, but can't figure it out and I recently retired from 40 years in IT.

Assuming you haven't done this yet: Remove card from cam and use card reader to computer/laptop. If no files show, cam isn't writing to disk and is defective. You most probably have to go through service to get warranty for it. Call ahead to parts to see if they have it in stock to minimize visits/trips.

I thought I was told that it’s constantly writing over itself and that it never saves any file until you hit the action button or it senses a crash, and then it saves a specified amount time before that.

I’m likely wrong about that, as I have never used mine. But any chance it’s just that?

It writes continuously when power on in set blocks and overwrites existing blocks when full. Action button can act as a tag to prevent overwriting and easy id and an additional button push can record for prolonged block until user stops. He should be able to view files within the Toyota Dash cam app. There should be many. Attempted viewing of the card on separate computer eliminates Toyota Dashcam app as a problem.

Echoing this, it's worth trying to use the Toyota Integrated Dashcam Viewer software on your computer (separate download from https://www.toyota.com/owners/dashcam/, ctrl+F on that page to find the "Viewer Software" button) with the SD card inserted if you haven't already.

I don't have the integrated dash cam anymore so I'm not exactly sure whether I'm remembering correctly, but I briefly had one on my old truck and I could only see videos that were automatically being saved while I was sitting inside the truck and connected to the dashcam's separate Wi-Fi. It was a nuisance. I never actually tried to save a video to the app for offline viewing while I was in the truck, but I'm pretty sure that's a separate step. I always figured I could just pull the SD card out for viewing on a computer if I needed a video... then I promptly broke the SD card removing it from the dash cam after a wreck.

I suggest what has been suggested and look it over on a PC. Then, download a free SD card formatting tool and perform a comprehensive format. Not the fast format, but the long one that takes a couple of hours to perform. I would try that.

using wifi dashcams is a waste of time. they are all slow as shit. +1, put it in a computer.

the oem sd card in mine died after a month or two. i just got a 128gb endurance card from samsung/sandisk and tossed the bad "oem" card in a drawer to warranty later. 16gb is trash.

Follow up ... it's working, you just can't access the files/events on an iPhone with Toyota's Dashcam Viewer software from the App store - the developers need to update this app to work, it only shows Live View.

To see Events (recordings) I bought a Micro SD Card Reader ($6 from Amazon), put the Dashcam's card in it, attached to my MacBook Air laptop & all the files/events were there and great quality vids, it's working and recording perfectly, just Toyota's App Store software is poor and the browers function in the app does not work correctly.

Would have been nice if someone at the dealership or in Toyota's Dashcam instruction manual noted this !

Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread... a slight work around, but all is good now & I don't have to take my new truck in for service as the service manager & sales team had suggested.

I had that issue with my Garmin and now my Viofo. With both, you have to turn off CarPlay on the phone, and then the apps work fine.

CarPlay (as in my 1st OP post) was off , or you can't connect & see LiveView without doing that..., the problem here... is thier software developers need to fix the browse function of the iPhone version.
