I've been in 3 Toyota dealers and found arrogant employees. I have GM, Chrysler, and Toyota vehicles and only noticed this from Toyota.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Define arrogance? I have always had great customer service in how I've been treated, by there is arrogance regarding their vehicles, particularly the Tacoma, in that they are proud of them and don't do everything to "win your business" when wheeling and dealing.

    I recently purchased a New/Used Taco 4x4 SR5 AC MT. 1700 miles certified vehicle.
Sticker was 34K, was treated very good even though I offered 8K less than they wanted.
I got the deal and have it parked in my driveway. Love the truck. Love the dealer.
I guess I am just lucky sometimes.

Toyota techs need to be top of the line to work on Toyota's. You need good credentials and experience, sometimes hefty training. As per the reception and sales, probably not so much. Depends where you go. My dealership is great.

Last June I was in the market to buy a new car. I went intoto my local Toyota dealer and when I walked in reception asked how I can be helped and I asked to see the Corolla. She rudely said the used cars are in the lot in the back. I spotted one out in the showroom and the salesman came to help me and was also pushing me to the used cars in the back of the lot………when I’m the customer and spending my hard earned money nobody decides what I can and cannot buy.

I’ve had a couple other similar issues and I can take suggestions, but when it comes down to it I figure out what is good for me not some dumb ass salesman!

I do like my Tacoma and will put up with this but domestic autos are not as bad as they used to be and there are options out there.

when I first started looking for a truck I knew exactly what I wanted; an 05-09 Tacoma access cab, didn't really care about color or accessories. I wanted 4x4 but was willing to go 2wd for the lower price. Oh and I wanted to pay less than 20,000 other than that I thought I was pretty flexible. So I head down to the local Toyota dealer and got a big F*** you after I explained what I wanted. The guy looked at me like I was retarded and told me to do some research before I came in again. So I was like, I'm never coming back and it almost steered me away from Toyota as a whole. But as fate would have it, when I was headed home I figured I might as well pull into the old Ford dealership. I was circling around and saw 3 Tacoma "trade ins". I pull over to take a closer look and instantly fell I love. Although she is a reg cab 2wd she spoke to me and when I asked the dealer about her I just got more and more certain. And when I saw the price I almost couldn't pull my wallet out fast enough. But I'll never go back to that Toyota dealership ever again

Years ago I was interested in a Tundra (1st gen). Was comparing to an equally equipped F150 and tried to negotiate a price compared to the deal I worked on the F150 and they basically laughed at me. They would hardly budge on the price so I told them I'd go buy the Ford and they didn't care to stop me. Every other dealer I've dealt with always followed me out the door tryin to keep my business. Not Toyota. I bought the Ford.

When I bought my Tacoma the local dealer didn't have what I wanted on the lot and kept pushing to sell me a truck equipped leas than I wanted telling me I wouldn't find the one I bought from their own sister deal ship that was about an hour away.

Then I referred my brother to the dealer I bought from which I was supposed to get a $100 referral fee which I never got after segueing with them til I got sick of dealing with them and gave up.

The last two aren't about arrogance but is to point out my bad run ins with Toyota dealers. Never had a particularly good experience with them. When I bought the Tacoma wasn't too bad but the after experience ruined them for me. I mean it's just chump change compared to the nearly 30k truck my brother bought and not to mention mine also.

I think this is strictly dependent on the each individual dealership. I have had issues with dealerships of several different vehicle manufacturers. For the most part they are individually owned and operated. If you feel they do not treat you right, leave and go to their competitor. If they really piss you off, call the manager and let them know that a certain employee caused him to lose business.

Just like every other facet in human relations, it will vary person to person.

Boulder Toyota is an awesome place. Paul, the parts guy, has given me "shop discount" on parts several times. For no other reason than he sees my face a lot.

I have no complaints about the two Toyota dealers in my area. The parts & service departments are staffed by competent professionals & that's what counts.
Nowadays we can search the dealer's inventory on line so that reduces the time spent with the sales department.

I've never had an issue so far, parts counter guys are very nice and always give me a break on parts, and the service managers are very thoughtful, knowledgeable and helpful... but what can I say, every dealer is different.

When I bought mine, the salesman matter of factly told me they wouldn't move on the price of the 4WD dcabs citing soccer moms as the driver. No attitude about it, just "we're not going to budge." When I told him I wanted a manual, he lit up, telling me they had one on the lot, an extra cab (since the 1st gens didn't offer the dcab in manual) and that he'd be able to deal a bit on it. The rest is history. All the dealerships I've been to for service have treated me as a 1st class customer.

Troll? No problems with my local dealerships. Dealerships are expensive but that's no secret and all manufacturers are the same that way, but most definitely no arrogance from our local Toyota places. They are great.

Well there's a few dealers near me that I go to. The closer one sucks and they try to rip me off every time. They've tried to rip my dad off on multiple occasions too, and the worst part is most of the salesmen know next to nothing about the vehicles they sell and pretty much nothing about cars in general. Most of the time, I know more about the vehicles than they do and I just do simple research because I get bored. It's obvious they have no interest in knowing about the vehicles. The farther dealer is actually really good and the people are pretty knowledgeable and only try to rip you off a little bit, but thats dealers in general. They usually work with me. I guess it depends on the dealer and whos running it.

I think that no matter who the manufacturer is, every make will have its fair share of crappy dealers. I've personally worked for two seperate Toyota dealerships as a technician and had the best experiences out of all the shops I've worked at. I also feel that most, if not all of the techs and service writers treated the customers with respect and honesty. I can't speak on the sales side of things- I personally feel that all auto salesman are vultures! Just kidding...

What do I do get sick of, though, is how people bash on dealerships (and repair shops) after they (the customer) spent any amount of money for parts or service. The dealership/repair shop is a business- they're in it to make a profit. They are also there with a skill or resource that you don't have, hence the reason for the visit. It kills me when people use the word "stealership," especially when they had the option to go elsewhere. Of course there is the special order/rare part that is only available OEM, but that's the exception. If you don't want to pay dealer/shop prices, go someplace else, order online, or learn how to complete the repairs yourself- it's really that easy!

I'm no longer in the automotive industry (by choice), but I do still highly respect it and take pride in it, given that's where my first career and education/degree stems from. I don't mean to offend anyone, if I did, and I definitely support to defend shops and their hard working techs who help to keep our trucks up and running. I just hate when people say "the dealership made me spend..." or the "stealership charged me ___ when I could've done it for ___ elsewhere."
