Toyota Dealership not using OEM fluid

    Idemitsu is a big Japanese company, and they make most of the oils and fluids branded by Honda, Toyota, Subaru, etc.

    I would trust it the same as the Toyota brand...

    Dealers use bulk Toyota WS, they sell the bottled WS over the counter.

    If the fluid meets the spec specified by Toyota they aren't doing anything wrong. I'd prefer OEM fluid but remember Toyota re-brands 3rd party fluids. Like the coolant they use is actually Pentosin, a German company. They also make brake fluid.

    To add fire to the Stealership opinion. Years ago I was a Ford tech. It was common to charge more for Ford parts that were sold thru the back counter (parts being installed by the techs) then what a customer would pay if purchased over the front counter (walk in retail sales). We had some customers realize this and after being told what their car needed would come in buy the parts then walk them over to the service writer to deliver the parts to the tech.
