Well, after you get this issue squared away, I suggest using your local dealer for any future dealer needs. No use of all that travel for anything else, unless you have a family member there who is a wiz tech or something. :D

Nothing like that, so I'll have to agree. Local will be getting any future business more than likely. I'm not planning to buy another new vehicle any time soon now that I got my blue Tacoma, so it should just be service and such from here on out I hope.

OP, please change your thread title to reflect that your dealer ordered the wrong parts and not "Toyota".

It's crazy to me how much they care about those damn surveys. My parents are in the car business and they said it looks really bad on a dealership if they don't get all 10s on their surveys.

Go ahead and teach me how to space paragraphs appropriately from my phone young wizard. The return button scrolls me to the top of the thread. I can guess with the space bar like this.

Hey OP ... can you wait a few days I need to get some work done here and I'll post you back in a few....

Ahh yes, the all important review - where I got my truck they gave me an internet price then changed it up $900 cause there's sooo much interest in the truck I wanted. Then at signing time I was yelling at the sales mgr whom was lying thru his teeth, I finally caved and just bought the truck for the price and the whole time the sales guy was begging me to give "him" the best review as it reflects on his paycheck... WTF... what about the $900 they fucked me out of???

Point is you have leverage with the review process and I'm sure that's what made them cave.

So that's why all the dealers I've previously dealt with didn't send out a survey?

Seriously just let you keep the rental for their mistake. Why does it have to be that difficult? Glad you stuck to your guns, stayed calm & offered a solution via the 6 letter word not the other kind of 4 letter ones. Post pics when you get your truck back finished!

I will definitely do that. I started another thread with some pics, but I'll post them here too. Yeah, I'm usually not one to persist because I know how it is dealing with the public making ridiculous demands and such, but in this particular case I think the solution was pretty much a no brainier. I am surprised there weren't any differing opinions so far, but I can't complain haha!

I would have handled it the same way as you.

But after reading this and problems other people have had with this truck, I'd opt to buy with a dealer near me.

You can't complain about the drive because that was a choice. Customer service seems to be on par with a dealer. You gotta push to get what you deserve.

PS don't get any of your aftermarket shit at a dealer. I think you are shooting yourself in the foot with cost and hassel. Go get your truck, go buy your kit, and have a good shop do the lift for you.

Would never let a dealer do my lift.

I really only read about 4 lines in post 1. What was the outcome?

Clearly nobody read any of the other posts. Can't format text via my phone. It scrolls me back up. The outcome was that I threatened to review negatively and they ended up giving me the rental for 8 days AND paying for the rental insurance

Glad to see it's not just me and my mindset. To be honest, I'm in more of a white collar type of position nowadays, but I still consider myself blue collar because it usually takes everyone ( myself included) doing the nitty gritty to get things done. I help manage a product development team. :bikewhoops:

Are you saying that you wouldn't purchase from a dealer a ways away, bypassing closer dealers, or that you wouldn't purchase the truck unless there was a dealer close to you?

Saying that I wouldn't buy at a dealer that far away unless I was ok with driving that far for service and problems. I'd rather be at a dealer closer if I had the choice. Some people may not have that choice though.

Gotcha. My first Tacoma was purchased 90mins away (closest dealer). I was in high school. Service work HAD to be done on Saturdays. Sucked.

My latest was purchased 280mi away, but there's a dealer 15mins from my house...which is where I'll be Saturday getting my window seal looked at.
