Go above the dealer straight to district and call them daily. Get one guys # and pound them daily. It took that for my differential to get replaced. 3 times . They replaced it 3 times....Seriously. It’s $50k that thing better be F Ing perfect or they better be throwing aftermarket stuff at you.

Dont worry about it dude. Youll find alot more of that in places where its actually a concern (ie outside of cab and exposed to the elements).

That kind of "rust" has no bearing on the function of the piece. And could be attributed to all sorts of reasons why it happened. Most importantly it wont get much "worse" than that

The two things that scare the shit out of new Tacoma owners the most are

Fear that your tires are too small

The slightest amount of “rust” or discoloration on metal

    Jesus fuck.
And I thought the 60k out the door here in Canada was a lot you're paying close to that in US dollar.

Shit must fall out of your ass just walking after being raped that hard.

That's insane mark up for a pro

But anyways that rust is normal dude . It's just surface rust because it's not coated. You'll find plenty of it under the truck to on drive shaft and other parts . It's ugly yes and I get your frustration but it's not a mechanical issue .I see the bother in price paid but regardless it's not a problem and really you don't see it without looking

If it was rust coming through paint etc that's a big issue though

My 2017 has the same rust you have .If you're really that bothered by it take some sand paper and clean it off then put some clear coat on

I had this so called "small tire" complex.

I'm not an expert but in some places rust is unavoidable. My exhaust and probably everyone else's here is a bit rusty.

It's uncoated steel, they all are and always have been since the 80's at least. They'll all gather surface rust (and nothing more) eventually and it won't effect how well anything works, and you'll basically never see it. If that's the worst problem you encounter I'd say you should count your blessings.

@Hakuna Tacoma The picture shows a TRD Pro but the price is for a TRD Off Road. Only a few dealer in my area offered at MSRP. Most dealers were adding dealer markups to Pro due to the availability. From my understanding each dealer we’re going to only receive a few throughout the year. I could have been mislead on the amount but I know it’s hard to find.

Look at the MSRP before rebate, that's TRD PRO MSRP not OR MSRP even if it was fully loaded and the VIN matches, look at the pictures and it's midnight black, I'm guessing its a title mix up before all the rest being wrong...they can be had for MSRP people.

@Hakuna Tacoma I saw the same thing earlier this year. The advertise online prices didn’t include market value mark up. A couple LA dealerships were doing that exact same thing; Advertising for MSRP or even less, but they failed to mention the mark up. I yelped and told them it was misleading customers. They called it market value mark up. Hilarious.
If you can get one for at MSRP or a little less that’s a good deal. CarMax is selling a 2017 PRO with 34K miles for 43K.
